Parents can play an important role in imparting sex education to their children. It is important to address the role of parents who can play a key role to open discussions with their children about human sexuality. In a society where it is considered a taboo to openly speak about sexuality or even private body parts for that matter, it is imperative that we start speaking about it openly as a way to educate and protect our children better. Dr. Jennifer War, Head of Centre for Gender and Dean of Academics, will be discussing with us on the importance why PARENTS need to talk about Human Sexuality and the stages of sexual development and how they can start these conversations with their children.
Faith Foundation introduced these learning series through their KZitem channel “Lawei Ki Hep jong ngi” - “Our Children’s Future” during this pandemic to educate the community on child rights highlighting the various issues in relation to children. Due to the ongoing crisis, the organization faces the challenge of reaching directly to children through their programs in schools and communities. This series/platform aims to create awareness to adults, caretakers and other stakeholders to broaden the understanding on these issues and ways that we can act as a community to create a safe space for our children.
