Great set up man! Last year I had a 14x7 open trailer I was running and it ended up getting totaled like a week after mowing stopped (lucky it happened then and not mid season lol). So I’m debating on what trailer I should go with. I’m thinking of going with the 12x6. I found there were times with the 14’ I didn’t quite fit between some of the driveways in my residential areas. I’m glad to see you are running 12’ trailers with no problem. I know everyone is all about the 16x8 dual axle but sometimes I feel like bigger is not always better!

Nice setup! Have ya had any issues w a single axle trailer and having 2x big mowers ? I have a 6x12 single axle but it always seemed to look like it was squatting a bit too low with a 48” and 34” ZTR on there.
@FloridaTurfPros
Жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issues. The axle is just a standard 3500lb axle, and the mowers fall well under that. I will say I upgrade the tires on all my trailers to radial tires (instead of bias), and make sure the load range on the tires are a little overbuilt for two mowers on the trailer.
@jasonknowles3465
Жыл бұрын
@@FloridaTurfPros yeah my 6x12 also has the 3500 axle; my gvwr is 2,990 lbs though so factoring in the 1,200 of the trailer that leaves me with 1,790 lbs. the 48” weighs 850, and the 34” about 750, so I’m at 1600 lbs just a bit under capacity. Idk I didn’t feel comfortable pulling it that heavily loaded down; it did great w just one of the mowers through.

Hey man. Great, simple setup. I started my lawn care business this past February and have grown rapidly using lots of your advice. I’ve got almost 20 accounts to my name which is way more than I excepted to have in this short amount of time. I’m currently running a 5x8 trailer with a 36” Wright Stander, 3 tier trimmer rack, and a tool box mounted to the trailer. For now my blower, sprayer and hand tools all go in the bed of my truck. I would like to upgrade my trailer soon just because the 5x8 is already getting too small. I’ve looked into 6x12 and 7x14. My main question is what made you decide to go with open trailers rather than enclosed? Cost? Efficiency? Thanks brother.
@FloridaTurfPros

I run open trailers because they are more cost and effective and faster/more efficient when running crews. It's easier to get your equipment on and off the truck fast.

@FloridaTurfPros do you have any issues with the 36 blowing debris out the front of deck? I've got a 2021 and put a quik chute on it, when I close it all the way to mulch leaves it blows out the front.
@FloridaTurfPros
2 жыл бұрын
You may be using flat blades and need to use high lift to suck the leaves up into the top of the deck. Whenever we are mulching leaves we use the highlift gator mulching blades. I have not had an issue. The other thing I would recommend is checking to make sure the baffles in the front of the deck are adjusted appropriately. You may need to lower the deck baffles slightly during leaf season.

Clean set up man! But I have one question I know here if I had two mowers that size on that size of a trailer it would be way over the rated cargo capacity legal wise. And would get a hefty fine if the dot pulled me over? Just was curious about that.... cuz right now I have a 5x10 trailer, I have a trimmer rack, and fit my 60” zero turn and two push mowers on and it is maxed out for legal weight capacity.

Throw some stuff in the truck if needed. Run ramps right from the truck into the trailer. Load the push mowers and trimmers/rack on the truck. Now you're legal.

I would say the majority of clients we have and new calls prefer walk behinds or normal mowers 21-30" push/self propelled. Congratulations on getting away with just using standers.

I no longer pull a trailer . The cost goes up pulling one . When we ran the trailers they were tandem axle.the single axle trailers whip around too much and are harder to backup . Plus a small trailer like the you are very limited to what you can do with it . If I recall you had a truck with a fold down gate that was similar to my setup. I put a snapper 21 inch cut and a stander in the truck. Out here your 36 will never go through 95 % of the yards . What ever happened to your truck setup?
@FloridaTurfPros
4 жыл бұрын
How am I limited to what I can do with it? It puts less strain on my truck, carries all my equipment, carries hedge trimming debris, and is more cost efficient. The trailer does not whip around because we load it correctly. It’s perfect for what we do.

I tried a small trailer it was a waste of money. Bought a 14 foot trailer with dual axles and had no problem hauling 3or4 cords of wood. Once you cut stuff down you need something to haul it all away. So what ever happened to the truck you setup for your lawn care ?
