If I would have watched this prior to me putting my rain bird 32sa in, I’d be solid. Very easy to follow. Rain bird’s instructions were written by a 5 yr old!!!

You can change the left “fixed” position simply by rotating it with the water turned off. You don’t have to rotate the entire body. Very simple.

💯 there is a limit to how far left they will go but you are correct. I have one that won’t turn those last few inches left unless the whole head it turned.

Or just leave the body in, screw off the top and replace the internals 👍

Good video. You mentioned the Rain Bird vs. Hunter debate that goes on. There really shouldn't be a debate. Hunter all the way.... period - I've had both. The only people that would probably disagree are those who have Rain Bird and have never had Hunter. I'd love to see a comment from someone who has had both and prefers Rain Bird.

Back in May, I replaced 12 PGP rotors that were 16 years old with new I-20 rotors and the difference is crazy. Definitely recommend getting the I-20 rotors with check valve if you’re going to be doing any widespread replacement. They cost a little more, but are totally worth it. Also capped off 3 rotors with those same pvc caps.

Thanks much Doc. I had done a few heads that were hesitating (calcium,) but your technique reduced lawn damage for the next few I did. Again thanks.

Replaced all my rainbird products with Hunter at my sports complex. Much better quality and spray curtain with the 3/4" I-20's. Especially with the 1" inlet I-50's along my meandering promenade walkways. Out in the open I swapped out my 6504's with the I-50 opposing nozzle heads. My hybrid Bermuda (bandera) loves it.

hey Doc. Great video as always. Just curious .. do you think the installation will be water tight (not leaking) by simply hand tightening without any tape? Thanks alot!!!!

Yes folks should not avoid replacing heads themselves. Easy but get the tool too, they’re on the same shelf with the heads in the big box stores. 👍

I like the rainbird RVAN spray nozzles much more, because of the mist over spray that traditional nozzles have…

Couldn't you just replace the guts instead of taking the whole head out?

I have a mixture of hybrid Bermuda sod and a bunch of common Bermuda. Is there a good way to get the hybrid to take over?

Have u ever used the rain bird mini paw ? Been thinking of switching to the voyager 2. Do the sprinklers that have a 3/4 opening use more water then 1/2 opening?

You're likely getting sediment and buildup over time inside the nozzle which is affecting your spray.

Wow! Rainbird is fixed on the Left/Hunter is fixed on the Right @$#%^&!!! Couldn't they at least pick the same side! That comment helps me a lot as I have both! Didn't realize I could be fighting thinking they were the same! Also I have found that a simple wet/dry shop vac VERY helpful cleaning out the hole and have used it several times to keep me from having to dig a bigger hole.

I have to run mine and catch the sand before it falls in the tube. I have one that is stripped out….not gonna mess with it, too much trouble.
