Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I birth the Marquette Golden Eagles program on NCAA 14.
In this episode, Marquette looks to build off a good win in Week 1 against Arizona as they now face one of the worst programs in the FBS. Charlie Weis enters his fifth season as the head coach at Eastern Michigan where he has led back-to-back six-win seasons--a great feat for the school. They now have senior QB Lawrence Jackson leading the charge as he transfers over from Marquette after serving as Greg Walker's backup over the past three seasons.
Now in a starting role, Jackson returns to Milwaukee to make his first career start in his former stadium with Walker as his opposition, the man he previously backed up. Both signal callers were signed as part of our Year 2 recruiting class where they would go on to battle for the starting job heading into Year 3. Walker would go on to win the job as he never looked back now entering his fourth season as the Marquette starting quarterback.
Jackson put in his time, paid his dues, and served as a great teammate over his tenure with the Golden Eagles. He's certainly owed a starting job in his final years as he landed at Eastern Michigan. Just how you set the stage, he's set for his first start and it comes none other than against his former team. Can Jackson beat out Walker this time around and lead EMU to a massive early-season upset?
We'll close the episode with our first recruiting update of the season and take a look around the nation at the college football landscape which has seen extreme turnover in just the first few weeks.
In the next episode, we host the #25 Wisconsin Badgers for War of Wisconsin II. Last season the Badgers took it in their home stadium as we look to avenge that loss on our home turf and add more heat to this in-state rivalry.
