Having used the Kapok pillow for nearly a year now, I’ll say that it does a pretty good job of staying relatively cool, which is good for me as I sleep warm. The main drawback for me is that throughout the night, I often end up having to fluff up the pillow a few times because the Kapok material inside gets pushed to either side due to my head resting in the middle when I lay down. A possible solution for this would be to just add more filling material - but I’m already using all of the Kapok that my pillow came with. And to my knowledge Layla doesn’t seem to sell the filling separately. Until they do, I’m strongly considering switching to their memory foam pillow instead for greater firmness (even though I’m a side-sleeper)…

Hey, Ken. Did you find a pillow that you love? I'm having the exact same issue with Saatva pillows. Not only does the shredded latex shift, but it also becomes hard in the areas that haven't gone flat.

As a side sleeper I just got the tuff and needle pillow and felt my spine wasn’t in alignment and felt I needed a little more loft then the tuff and needle could offer. This morning my Layla kaypok pillow arrived and took it out of the box and I could i instantly tell my neck and spin felt more in alignment then the tuff and needle pillow when used. I love the loft of the kaypok pillow highly recommended it if your having neck and shoulder pains. As a side sleeper I don’t feel like I have to put my arm under my pillow anymore to get the loft I need which makes a world of difference in shoulder pain.

Have you slept on this pillow yet? Does it collapse while sleeping on it or does it retain stiffness while sleeping? I hate memory foam because it collapses during sleep and misses the whole mark of needing support for side sleepers.

I realy like both of these pillows but the memory foam pillow sounds more my style because it's more dense. But I'm a side sleeper and the Kapok is the better pillow for that. Thank goodness for the long trail period! The memory foam pillow cost substantially less than the Kapok pilow and that's also another reason to consider it.

Okay... Fist of all, you've taught me so much and I'm loving it. 😭 I never knew all of these fancy terms. 🛌 I would love a recommendation from you - I'm mostly a back sleeper, the occasional side sleeper. I've been having such terrible (the back of my) neck pain and it's killing me. 😫 So much so that I stopped using a pillow all together and roll up a car cleaning rag that I had lying around. I find myself needing to place my palm at the back of my neck on the ball like feeling bone the can give us "nerd neck" which I do have just to support the awful pain. I purchased the Sutera pillow back in 2020, it worked at first but then began to give me more pain and HEADACHES. Same is happening with my parter. He's more a side sleeper but also back sleeper and is having the same issues as me. His shoulders are broader than mine of course and when he sleeps on his sides he gets shoulder pain too. We're a mess! lol Please, please help us with some recommendations. 🙏🏽🫂

If forced to designate a breakdown of my favorite sleeping positions I would say stomach 50%; back 30%, and side 20%. Do you have any suggestions on how much material to remove to maximize comfort and proper spinal alignment for my combo sleeping? Thanks

7” tall loft huh? I’ve got a photo of it on a table at no more than 5”. It fluffed to maybe 5 1/2” after 15 min tumble no heat dryer. Layla says queen Kapok 3 to 3.5 lbs. Mine is 3 lb 0.6 oz barely in spec. As side sleeper, Kapok has me smushing ends in to loft it up. It’s also got me to order a Tempur cloud hi cause Although Kapok fill is luxurious, it’s not very lofty for this 6’2” 170 lb frame.

I'm having trouble finding my perfect pillow. I'm a "fluffy" girl with broad shoulders that is a side sleeper. If my pillow is too low I tend to be a stomach sleeper. I roll around a lot at night and my shoulders shoves all the fluff out of the way and I end up with a flat part and a kinked neck. The cooper pillow was the worst for me. I tried pillows where it has a cut out for the shoulder on amazon but either the loft was not high enough or it was too firm. I love Layla, my 4 year old son sleeps amazing on it and I have too by accident reading night time books. Would these pillows be able to keep its shape with active sleeper? Idea for a different video, pillow dupes. Lower price pillow's that are almost the same. but to me... I'll pay anything for a good nights sleep. Also, best pillows for broad shoulders. Thanks!
@Sleepopolis

Hey Jenna, thanks for reaching out. Yes, in my experience, both Layla pillows are great for active sleepers. The Layla Kapok pillow, in particular, does a very impressive job of maintaining its shape and loft throughout the night. And remember -- you get 120 nights to test it out!

I like that both pillow's covers are machine washable, which is a must for me. But sounds like the memory foam one is easier to care. I have a very firm mattress for my boyfriend's back pain, I am a side sleeper with constant neck pain. So I need a pillow that's quite lofty because my shoulder doesn't sink down into the firm mattress. I'm trying too decide how lofty of a pillow to get. Can I measure the distance from my neck to the end of my shoulder (like the broadness's of my shoulder) to see how lofty my pillow should be? And also, because of the plushness of the Layla pillow, will it give that support right against my neck? It doesn't have a gusset like other pillows (the Casper comes to mind).
@Sleepopolis
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jenna, thanks for reaching out. The Layla Kapok pillow is my go-to recommendation for side sleepers with shoulder pain. It combines both dense and plush materials for a body-conforming, supportive feel. That said, its loft has this kind of neat way of compressing to where it needs to be for your height (oh, the magic of memory foam!). If I were you, I'd take advantage of that 120-night trial period, and maybe play around with the loft by adjusting the internal fill until you find the perfect height. The Casper pillow is great, but it is definitely softer and more compressible than the Layla, so I'm not sure it would relieve enough pressure at your shoulder.

@Sleepopolis
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Renz, thanks for reaching out. So, this is a toughie for me because the Eli & Elm Side Sleepers and Layla Kapok pillows are my personal favorite pillows for side sleepers! That said, I do find the Eli & Elm to be a bit better for back and side sleeping because its ergonomic shape really cradles your head and neck when you're in the back sleeping position. And of course, its lofty sides are perfect for side sleeping. The Layla Kapok, on the other hand, is better for strict side sleepers, in my opinion. The main thing to take away is that it's so lofty and fluffy, perfect for relieving shoulder pressure for side sleepers. But remember that Layla pillows come with super long trial periods, so you may want to personally test them out!

Sleepopolis hi is this sarah thank you for your honest opinion. I decided to buy the eli and elm side sleeper because you said its one of your favorite and its really good for side sleeper and back like me. And the shape is made for side sleepers in general. I like the materials though hopefully i get to like eli and elm side if not ill give this a try.
