The line going up to the AA meeting is going to be stunning. Through those rocks, damn nice idea and well executed. Every touch of weathering and moss/shrubs is just going to enhance it more and more. Will bring static grass machine.

Loving the progress you’ve been making and the autumnal colour palette will be amazing. When I saw the rocks around the line running up to the distillery, the West Highland line outside Mallaig instantly came to mind. Really feels like you’re capturing the spirit of the Highlands!

@@Proper_Chuffed Eratics are Variously sized rocks left behind after the ice age. They litter many hillsides across Scotland. Anywhere from say a fridge size to a full house, clearly smaller ones would also be left. Hope that helps. 🙂

I like those rocks and all the pieces, they look great, that’s how I intended mine to be around the big tunnel but then fully didn’t consider the space and it’s a bit too tight now 🤯 Bargain little wagon set that too 👍 Out of curiosity you still watching my stuff or has it gone too daft now? (Be honest)

They’re definitely the peak of my proficiency 😂 so anything beyond the damn rocks will be rubbish, bet! I realise if you’re asking this it’s because you haven’t had a comment from me for a while but sir! Do I have a story to make you feel special 😂 Recently had a work trip down to Cape Town, around a 3 hour flight one way, and you, my dear Dave, had the honor of being the only thing I watched both ways 😂 downloaded a stack and chuckled through the turbulence. But yes, to answer your question, haven’t missed one so far 👌

@@Proper_Chuffed haha cheers, no need to comment on them just checking they’ve not gone too bad as I was starting to wonder myself! @stephendavies6949

@Proper_Chuffed As you say, ballast colours were (and to some extent still are) dependent on the colour of the local stone used. OOBill spoke about this when he was ballasting his new layout. And since his is based in Scotland, perhaps that could be of some help? I think I recall him sharing how he came up with the colour he used. Frankly, for most of us, ballast colour is not crucial, but KZitemrs like yourself have to think about how the colour will appear on camera. Other references on ballasting would be Chadwick & New Junction (who used pet gravel!). That Model Railway Guy also did a good video on the subject when building his last layout.
