I am 79 going back to trumpet playing after 20 years. At first I thought this ok. But 38 minutes later you where answering everything I needed to know about playing longer without getting so tired. Thank you from 9 years ago.

Question: Will my horn in it's case make a worthy door stop? Charles Lazarus is amazing. He becomes the human trumpet when he puts the elongated piece of metal up to his lips. He has what most of we players want: less effort and more facility.

One problem with the swing thing. Feeling 2 and 4 shouldn't be in your feet in my opinion. Most times when you see someone dancing who is a good dancer, they step on 1 and 3 regardless of what style of music it is. Professionals step on those strong beats. Also, take a look at any big band from the big band era. They tap on all 4 beats or if the tempo is too fast they begin tapping on 1 and 3. 2 and 4 are already syncopated beats, now add all of the syncopation you're going to have to play in a jazz chart on top of already tapping on the weak beats. Then, as Barry Harris would say, what beats do you clap on? No one ever clapped and stomped there feet on 2 and 4 together! That would just be ridiculous. lol

Tanto Rommel como Lazarus hablan demasiado en lugar de utilizar su instrumento para enseñar. Es una pena.
