Got mine, installed on a Nagoya trunk lip mount on my right front side of hood on a Honda Pilot. SWR the highest on 2m/440 1.3. No difference on reception versus my Diamond NR770.

Can you post a link to the mag mount that you used? And did it keep the antenna upright at highway speeds?

Really enjoy the videos. Your series on the mobile install was awesome, would like to see other mobile installs, products and ideas. Like to know how the COMPAC antenna holds up over time. Also will it work on a fixed mount on the fender near windshield ...?

Hi Frank, Thank you for your inquiry. You will find reviews of people that have used their COMPACtenna for years. Regarding installations: Mounting near a top corner of the vehicle is generally best. Mounts that work well include: Magnet mounts that are low profile typically do best; the LAIRD GB8PI is a good option. L-Bracket (NMO) mounts with screws; a variety of types are available including adjustable style. Thru-hole NMO mounts. [For mounts where holes are involved, it is often helpful to start with a magnet mount to get a general idea of SWR at approximate location before proceeding; magnet mounts provide capacitive coupling even to aluminum roofs.]

@@dr.jacknilsson1970 thank you, the reason why I asked is I have a couple of hood hinge mounts that I will be mounting on my trunk. These mounts normally are used for lights, however also could used for antennas. I wanted something low profile instead of the usual antenna whip since it will be near window Pilar. I’m thinking of seriously getting the antenna and seeing how it works out, if not I will use it with a mag mount for temporary installs...like on rents or wife’s car. Thanks again! De N6LPV

On UHF you keep looking at the output frequency of your repeater. You should be looking at the input frequency of your repeater (448.600).

all things kept same, what would your sig be with a regular whip style ant?

@myles I - We compared the antenna to others and it did very well. It was only one bar lower on the strength meter on return signals from around 26 miles away from the repeater. Thanks for watching!
