This video shows how I fixed my Flat Panel TV. It shows the basics on:
1. Things to look at before doing anything
2. How to take apart your TV
3. Overview of basic components inside your TV (how to identify your Main Board, your Power Board, your TCon Board + how to check your connectors)
4. Things that may go wrong inside your TV and what you can do to fix them
It is meant to cover the basics of any flat panel TV, but this TV happens to be an LG 55LW5600-UA 3D TV, about 10 years old. I hope it can help almost anyone who experiences a TV failure have the confidence to try to repair their TV where possible instead of incurring the cost and waste of throwing out a perfectly good LCD panel assembly to acquire a new TV.
*Before doing anything, be sure to unplug your TV, and then use your remote to turn on the TV to drain any charge remaining in the components.*
In my case, I had a defect in my Main Board, but the steps are similar for any one of the circuit boards.
Importantly, while replacement circuit boards can often be purchased online, sometimes they are not available. It may always be worth checking with Nick's TV Repair (nickstv.com) to see if they will fix your existing board rather than buying a new one. They were incredibly helpful and turned around my circuit board in about a week (with great updates on status along the way). I am not affiliated with Nick's TV in any way.
