Great review mate, and glad to hear that you didn't have any mechanical issues. Sounds like LDV/MG all have "little kinks" with electricals, sounds like you've sorted yours, and a year in - fingers crossed for you to keep enjoying the purchase vs. the bigger brands and names such as Sorento, etc. 👍

I was going through some video reviews, and I had come across that it makes raving sounds while going down the hill. Secondly, I saw that whill auto stop-start button is on, it has a 2min delay to start the engine which could be frustrating while seating on a busy area.

Not sure about these issues, the D90 has no engine breaking so if you change down it only revs without the result of slowing the vehicle, you must use the breaks. Start stop doesn't work if the aircon is on therefore it never works but when it does there is no delay. Squeaking breaks would be something you would get checked, I've not had sqeaky breaks

The start/stop feature is completely pointless in any vehicle. The fact it doesn't work often i consider a benefit. The fuel savings are negligible and you need a bigger battery with cars that have it

Hey Shannon, thanks for your videos on the D90, mate. I'm going to be ordering one in the next 6 months or so, so it's great to hear people's real-world experiences, both positive and negative. Even with the little niggles, it's hard to go past the price of the D90, especially when you look at the stupid prices that Land Cruisers are going for second-hand in Australia.
@RadRoadAdventures
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Carl, it's the same over here, 2010 landcruiser with 300000km is about the same price as a new D90. No factory warranty etc. As you would have heard me mention, get some reviews on aftersales, after knowing the trouble same buyers have has in Aus its more about poor customer service rather than the D90 being a concern with things aren't as they should be.

Awesome review, just watched your first one a moment ago, will go back and like. I've been watching a lot of reviews on the D90 and yours was the first I could find that talked about towing a van, which is what we will be doing a lot of in Australia. You mentioned Monsoon Shields in your video. What are they? Did you end up getting under body protection? Any other updates in the last 2 years?

Hi Ian Monsoon sheilds are over each window so rain doesn't enter when down a small amount. We got the underbody protection from Australia, custom off-road. I believe I would get around 9-9.5L/100 with mixed driving, 8.5L/100km open road and 10-12L/100km city depending on congestion. I've put an EliteDrive power module in and seeing good results, even as low as 7L/100km mixed driving

I'd get a lift kit for it. The car looks great but maybe a little low for any serious off-roading. That said it really depends on what sort of driving you mostly do. A lift kit changes the handling and if you don't go on the rough stuff enough it might not be that worth it.

Depreciation will be the biggest cost I think owning this car. You can get the current executive update in Australia for $30k with 10k kms. Once they are out of warranty, half that again. I think selling one of these second hand won't be fun. Nor will be chasing parts for one, being so few on the road. Their size is very appealing though, matched to that engine power and transmission. So it's something to consider before buying one
