I’m from Georgia and I saw “Here Lies Love” when it had its first show by invitation only. This was the very first time to New York for me and I was fortunate enough that my business partner provides the lighting for the show and I was able to attend and I was blown away! Being a southern guy in New York and seeing “Here Lies Love” made my big City experience priceless! Fantastic cast and the most energetic show I’ve ever seen! I knew very little about the story going in but knew it quite well coming out! It’s the best and your cast is unbelievable and I’m already planning another trip to NY and “Here Lies Love” will be at the top of my list! Great job!!

Thank you so much for being mindful of and including wheelchair seating!!! Becoming wheelchair dependent 5 years ago has made it very difficult to attend productions in some venues. Thank you for incorporating them in various sections of the theater to give us options, and I wish you all the best with the new show!

Was genuinely curious, but the FAQs does not state anything about whether it hides or glamorizes Imelda's excesses and their conjugal dictatorship's abuses. That has me concerned.

@@medioreblatherskite I am also incredibly concerned how the Liberals after Marcos who where in power for the next 30 years enriched themselves when they were in power. I am amazed how they were praised, awarded and made to appear saintly while manipulating the Filipino masses for their enrichment - all done under "democracy." How they manipulated and created laws to preserve their self interest and let the masses remain poor. That is why the masses got tired of them? You dont have a clue.

The set design is surely interesting. It is the latest one I have seen, after “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Comet of 1812”, that tries to immersive the audience by transforming the entire theater. I will say that it seemed weird, initially, how the disco aesthetic is being used to tell the story about Imelda Marcos - someone who, from what I researched, was involved in politics. Then again, many people (myself included) have grown to love the musical that used R&B and rap to tell the story of Alexander Hamilton. I can’t wait to see how this goes. Edit: I have been following the development of "Here Lies Love" on Broadway, and David Byrne offered an explanation behind the disco aesthetic. He said he went on a trip to the Philippines for research when was first producing the play; he reportedly learned that disco is not only part of Filipino culture, but also such a big part of Imelda Marcos' life that she would use it in her political campaigns.

Imelda Marcos was the wife of a dictator, and arguably even worse than her husband. Seems a pretty tacky creative decision to tell her story via a nightclub. Why are the producers glamorizing her? “Moulin Rouge” was successful, because despite being immersive, it contained the show within a traditional stage. “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812” was one of the biggest financial failures, in Broadway history. It never gained and audience, and flopped the moment Josh Groban left the cast after the Tonys.

It's hard to predict whether a musical will be successful or not, but judging by the number of views here and by the number of subscribers, it's future is bleak. I hope, I am wrong.

Lol whoever did the Filipino subtitles must not be a native speaker. It’s so unnatural & formal & doesn’t fit the context. Who even says “Magandang makita ka?” It very much registers like a US born & raised FilAm kind of Filipino. So who are the subtitles even for? In the Philippines, English is one of our official languages. It is our language of instruction. We already consume English media without subtitles or dubbing. We naturally speak in a combination of Tagalog & English a.k.a. “Taglish” and code switch A LOT. The subtitles here doesn’t use common shortcuts and doesn’t code switch naturally it’s kinda funny. And those of us who would need the subtitles would still be confused because it doesn’t translate harder words anyway. It defeats the purpose and the subtitles just seem like a gimmick.
