Glad to see you get one of these birds. Very sweet ride with 2S or 3S. I have the black motor version and it flies great. My only "wish it had" are the motor shaft be a few millimeters longer so screws wouldn't be needed and that the distance between the uprights were at least 19mm apart to allow for a RunCam Mini to be mounted. I moved the battery wires around the frame upright and zip tied it there rather than between the uprights as on a hard crash the wires will knock of the buzzer board.
@NickBurnsFPV

Yes, this one I have really enjoyed. I don't normally endorse a product like in this video. I have been alerted that Albert did squeeze in a micro swift my loosening the uprights and create a gap to fit. Your battery wires now come down between the arms? Am I understanding that correctly?

Wow, I comment on so few videos that I couldn't find the place to do so for 10 minutes! Anyway, I have to say..... Wow Nick, your flying has improved an unbelievable amount In The last 6 months I've seen your videos! I got out of the micro stuff for a little while with my new gt2, chameleon and x1 the last few months but seeing this video is going to bring me back....! Haven't flown micro besides little whoop since Daytona beach destroyed my "AR fun pro 95" (won't power up at all since flying on the beach). Just wanted to let you know you help the hobby and fly like a micro champion and I'll be getting this right now and will be pumped until I get mine and it doesn't fly quite as well as yours does..... But that will be do to the person holding the controller I'm sure!! Thanks man, another no-nonsense, to the point video! Good work!

Nick Burns, lol. I wish I lived closer to a beach too. I'm here in northern KY and even though the flight was under 3 hours down to Daytona beach.... I can tell you from experience and a number if trips to spring break that the drive is rough and 12 to Panama City and maybe 16 to Daytona. I wasn't doing either trip with the 9 MPG beast in the driveway (H2, new to me) ! 😂 Word if warning, I didn't wreck on beach or hit any water out there and not sure what happened but had "Armattan Chameleon", "Shuriken X1" and my "ARfun Pro 95" with me and none if them would even power up the FC when I got back home!? I could hear the ESCs starting up but nothing on flight controller or lights/beepers! Had to replace 2FCs and waiting on smaller one for ARfun so beware.

Yo Nick...awesome review, like always! This Leader 120 really has it all...nice improved black motors (applauds to Full Speed to switching out the red motors to make this a stellar quad!), 20 amp 4 in 1 ESC's, a strong, well made frame, great FC with OSD, buzzer, LED, what appears to be a decent camera and protection for it (that's saying something when compared to many that leave their camera exposed and we're counting the flights until it is ruined!!), and props that work great, and we don't have to immediately toss! Imagine that! LOL Gearbest has this on Flash Sale right now for $89 ! Incredible deal! I don't know if I've ever seen a better deal, considering how well equipped this comes! (:^)

I am designing a quad that will be suitable for both indoor and outdoor flying. I don't really know what train I should go with. Right now I'm thinking the way to go is DYS 1104 7500kv motors with 2035 4blade props. I would prefer 3 blade props, but there aren't any good ones in this size class except for the DYS 2030 3 blade. I'm also looking to put prop ducts around the prop so it can help with crashes and possibly efficiency. I watched Bruce Simpson's video about ducting propellers and it seems like a good way to increase efficiency.

My phone is not so awesome.... I like the looks of the fighter, I saw your vid but did it have the death rolls? Red or black motors?
@FrequentFlyerRC
7 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns yes, but only did it near end of the battery. And the motors are totally different.. 1106 7500Kv! Figured it out though! If you still have death rolls on the other ones just lower the minimum cell voltage to 2.9! I think the high voltage pull of a quick roll was causing the cell voltage to drop below the threshold of 3.3v per cell which then tells the FC to reset. Lowering to 2.9 to 2.8 fixed it in all I have! This might even have worked on the AR Fun and all those other brownie lovin quads! 😆

Hey Nick if it helps the Micro swift arrow fits in the frame just by loosening and then tightening the top standoff. Hey Nick! Another nice review. I for one like a strong opinion and not the wishy washy vague crap. If it's great, like you say this one is, give it to us straight. I used the RC18OFF coupon and since they show this as already being 15% off, it gave me a few bucks... Down to $104 and change. Still, if it's what you say it is, that's a total buy! Those micros over 200 bucks or close, good luck, cuz I'm not even giving them the time of day. There's just not enough difference between them and this to warrant double the price. A swift micro 2 is $35 bucks! Thanks again for bringing this to us! (:^)

Love watching you fly. I'm new to quadcopter hobby. Watching your videos on the FullSpeed Leader 120, I really think I got a defect Leader 120 from GearBest. From day one I have the Flip of Death. I've tried all of the videos out on KZitem and still can't fix the Flip Of Death. Same goes with the Lizard 95. It take so long to get a quad in; and when you get it, it doesn't work like the videos on KZitem. So frustrating and I'm so disappointed.... :( :( :(

Looks great, but how would it fly with 2.5" props (MultiGP micro race spec)? Liked the comparison with Airblade Eclair V2. Eclair is 129mm with 2.5" props and Leader120 runs 2.8"??? Guess you could unscrew the motor and take a twist or 2 out of the motor wires to get them flat before you tape them down.
@NickBurnsFPV

Good point. I will post a pinned topic to see if many are interested in 2s 2.5inch prop flight demo. We would have to run 2s to meet multigp regs.

I'd like to see that 2s 2.5" flight, Nick! Great idea Mark Sherman, taking a few twists out of the motor wires should give us just enough to get the wires to lay down. Popping on some of that flex weave stuff (what's that actually called?) would also make it look even better (no need for tape) and weigh nearly nothing. Nice thought! (:^)

Hi Nick. I recently got the Leader 120 and am blown away by its performance on 2S. When flying on 3S, I found the motors came back screaming hot. Did you find the same thing? Anything you would suggest for remedying this? I am running with dynamic gyro notch filters on PT1, and reduced D gain.
@NickBurnsFPV
7 жыл бұрын
No, motors only warm, I have flown consitently warmer motors. I would suggest going back to the stock tune with notch filter enabled and see what it is like that way. Also, are you running the original props? Are they banged up? Use new original props and test.

This is perfect man, thanks for the review. I've been needing something to fly in my apt complex that wont freak people out. Is this still state of the art for micro flying these days? I'd like to get as close to 4S 5" performance. The atom appears to be a good product. The price point has kept me from experiencing how good it is. I don't think its a good comparison with this, to many differences...imho.

Yes, early reviews did. I believe FullSpeedRC changed out the motors (red vs black) and solved that issue. As you can see I do a flip at the end of the flight with the low voltage buzzer going...no issue.

+Nick Burns loved the review. So much that I bought one! You mentioned the props were great, but did you say what props they were? I'd like to get some spares or something better in the same size range (2.5 inch are they?).
yes I would love to see more 2s quads, I know this is a older video so you probably made it already so I'm looking for it, now for my question I bought for myself a king kong flyegg 130, almost like the ( Leader120 ) but no OSD But they did use heat shrink on the motor wires, it has a buzzer, But not the best, but I really love flying her, last week I had to pick my son up from work his water pump went out. So when I went to pick him up, I had all my quads and I sort of had a not so smooth of a landing on a baseball field that had crushed lava rocks for the diamond and on my mantis and it's grinding, bummer now probably I will will need new motors. I think I will know more in the morning I'm hopping to try and take out the Furious 215 and the 130 . WELL NIGHT John Duchi

Getting rocks or really anything can be a pain to clean out. But it can be done. Before running the quad again, I would recommend taking the bell off, there should be a clip on the bottom, release that and the bell and motor stem should all come off together. Rinse it off and let it dry very well. Then put it back together. The c clip removal can be tedious, but it can be done.

Nick...No wonder the battery that comes with the Leader 120 is so crappy (besides it's specs)- here's what it says when you look up that exact battery on GearBest's website: FULL SPEED 7.4V 500mAh 2S 30C LiPo Battery with XH-3P JST Connector for Eaglet - 85 85mm FPV Racing Drone They ship it with the 85mm Eaglet AND the Leader 120mm - What's wrong with that scenario?!! LOL A 120mm quad needs so much more battery than an 85mm! What a waste. At least we can use it with other smaller quads.

Hey Nick, for flying proximity on micros what do you run your RC Rate and expo at? I just love how smooth yet agile you have this flying. I'm running the gf 2540 on the leader with black motors. Also it looks like fullspeed is bringing out their own 28 amp FC bundled with this quad soon (Lewis' channel). Happy Christmas.

I bought this off your review, love your content. This will be my 1st brushless quad, I mess with brushed with the kids, I have 4 kids and it's tough for me to get really into the hobby so have not built anything big. What would you recommend for extra batteries and a charger? Thanks
@NickBurnsFPV

Hey that's great. I think your really going to enjoy it. All links to products at the end. I think you might want to start off with 2s. Its still going to be fast and fun, if your adventurous 3s with a lower camera angle to get comfortable. I am a fan of mylipo batteries. They cost a bit more and shipping isn't free, but they stand up over time where other batteries start needing to be replaced. I really like my Q200 charger, it can charge 4 batteries at a time without parallel charging, there is a less expensive version that charges two at a time. Charge time can be painful when we are busy...I have three kids...we have a lot to do, and little free time as busy parents. Chargers from high price to low bit.ly/2w6zAph bit.ly/2y3m3MD bit.ly/2fgnD5J GNB Banggood batteries 3S bit.ly/2wW6lFi bit.ly/2y3yc3W 2S bit.ly/2joHQv0 Mylipo batteries 3S bit.ly/2xwpez5 2S bit.ly/2w6siC2

Nick Burns... Have you tried the Tattu batteries? I got free shipping at $50 order and 10% off first order. Got their Tattu brand (not Genace) for about $10 each for a 650mah 3s and I think they were 80C. They have a 450mah also. In US so really quick to arrive! As you've probably heard, they are a true C rating and the quality of construction is a 10 out of 10. Plus, never a sag do they give! Also, website has a really nice lipo search feature that you can dial in on just what you want. I Highly recommend.

I to think the tattu batteries are a quality product...heavy but quality. I have several 3s and 4S 450mah and 650mah. I don't think the high C rated tattu's have jst. Correct me if I am wrong. Long term I would likely switch this out to xt30 and open up my battery options.

Great video, really loving your content and just subbed! I watched your review on the eclair v2. I know this is an unfair comparison but the leader 120 seems to be on par with the eclair v2 after viewing your flight video. I could easily build the eclair v2 but for price point and performance, I'm leaning towards the leader 120. Is it worth the extra money to build the eclair?
@NickBurnsFPV
7 жыл бұрын
It really hinges on your preference of fpv view. The eclair has the micro swift a ccd camera, quad standard view and excellent light handling. The cmos camera of the leader 120 is good of the cmos all in one, but not nearly as sharp of an image and light handling is much different. I would look at the dvr footage and focus on that topic, then weigh what you see to the cost difference. There is also the building, something to consider, some prefer to build and enjoy the build, others want the simplicity of just adding the receiver and go fly. I hope it helps.

For me it came down to, £69.00 for the leader or £90.00 but BNF for the FuriBee X140, similar flight characteristics as you mentioned in another video, After watching this video a couple of times I just thought for it's size it definitely has something special so I went for this the leader 120, very hard choice though as I liked the camera on the 140 and the potential for a mobius mini hd camera installation. This will be my first brushless though and 2s capabilities means cheaper batteries for learning or should I skip the 2s and jump straight into the deep end with 3s? If I configure it for 3s will I need to reconfigure it to run on 2s? I think it's fine to do this but not to do it the other way around, not sure though. Sorry for all the questions but for me they are important. Your videos were very helpful as for making my decision on this micro, cheers Nick. Oh, you flew the pants off it, I like courses like that myself, no assembly and risky as hell compared to open borring fields lol. Great video.
@NickBurnsFPV

Yes, pid tuning will be required when switching from 2s or 3s. I would advise to run the 3s, the tune will feel the best on 3s. You can control your speed with camera angle. Move the camera angle down a bit and work up as you get comfortable. The real risk with 3s is additional throttle control, but that risk is relatively low, first flights just hover it line of sight and pump the throttle a bit to get the feel before you put the goggles on. Thank you for the compliments.
@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN

Thank you Nick, I'll grab 3s then, thanks for the advice. The camera angle you use is insane, I've tried high 45` angle in free rider and can barely do a circuit lol, around 25` works for me, in real life i will start lower with this one as you say and work up. Thanks again.

Would this 120 be a good quad to learn FPV , rather that a bigger 220 size?
@NickBurnsFPV
7 жыл бұрын
Its a matter of flight time. If your able to fly a 220 as often as a 120 it would be a wash. Mostly the 120 allows use to fly in much smaller spaces and therefore we get to fly more often. I also think micros like a 120 are better for learning as they are less likely to cause damage to the surroundings.

I fully agree. When I burned out my vtx (my fault), I hit a tree and it fell atleast 80 feet to the ground. picked it up dusted it off and kept on flying. This little frame is a tank. Its a bit tight but it all fits and is well protected. Also one of few cheap frames that are 3mm thick for a quad this size. Its hard for me to find a space to fly my wizard. I think ill have to join a club and drive 30 mins away to fly that. Only way its legal in my country. So micro is drone law exempt its less than 250g, problem solved.

HGLRC XJB-145.... goes on sale all the time, packed full of awesome parts, and one of the fastest micros of all time. I dont like the frame that much but i just transplanted the guts of mine to an Airblade Eclair pro and it is a whole new quad for me now... as far as micros go the XJB is close to being king... the skystar x140, furibee 140 and a few others are direct clones of that design... difference is thr HGLRC one comes stock with 28A esc's. Which paired with the 1407 motors make it fast as f*** lol
