Berube wants players who wants to play for the Leafs. Lot of competition. Which is always a good thing. That’s awesome to hear about Patches. First summer in 3 summers that he can train right. Not expecting the younger Patches. I’m sure expecting Patches to play tue best he can. Good things will happen when he does. Wonder how American Woll and Stoley the Goalie handing everything in practices.

Competition?? Really?? It's always the bottom 6 with retreads and duct tape holding them together, like big D man Johnny Hockeypuck. No competition at all, maybe 1 or 2 bottom spots. Think for yourself instead of listening to podcasts where they have to build up the suspense. How many times with the Leafs have you heard "It feels different this year" .... yes, every year.

@@Ferg13 Zero competition ... I can write up opening line-up right now. Remember the hype around Denis Malgin?? Thought so. Yes, I do know hockey, and I have followed the Leafs closely. They are the absolute laughingstock of all pro sports around the globe - big payroll, big name players, highest ticket prices, best coaching and support staff and 1 playoff win in what, 18 years now. For a major market the Leaf organization and fans should be a bit more humble I think.

Fraser Minten's waiver exempt status all but guarantees that he will start the year with the Marlies. When it is considered how many of the forwards the Leafs could realistically lose to the waiver wire, any waiver exempt player is immediately at a disadvantage.

No to Max P and No to Mark G. I love them both, but age and injury vs. youth and future development makes no sense. Training camp and the first 9 games will show what we have. Gowan and Minten are close. Either this season or next, they have to be onboarded soon. It is up to the young players to prove that they can contribute to this team. Hakanpaa is still a wild card as well. Let's see what happens over the next 4-5 weeks. Good luck to all.

If you are still looking for top 6 players a week before Camp, you are not a serious contender. Leafs need a #2 Center..a Winger...a top 4 Dman...They also need a goaltender to take the reigns....not sold on what they have.
