I think that, the environment where we live; place of work, neighborhood, etc., will indicate us what will be the phrasal verbs that we should be learning, I think an excellent idea on your part, you will be teaching us the most used phrasal verbs. The number of phrasal verbs out there is so insane that not even native speakers can keep up, recently I bought a book with over 3000 entries and many are unknown to Americans, so if you had to tell me a number how many PV do you consider the average American needs to know in order to get by every day?...
@engvidAlex
6 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough question. I’m working on a book of the 100 most common phrasal verbs I hear and use on a regular basis. That would be a great start, but you’ll still run into situations where you hear something you’ve never heard before. That said, if you have between 100 and 200 phrasal verbs in your back pocket, I believe you’ll be just fine in 80-90% of English conversations. Context is everything, and it often depends on your professional context and the type of language you need in your profession. In teaching and office work, I hear “run out” and “break down” all the time, for example. “The copier broke down.” “The printer ran out of ink.” I hope this helps!

Very good explanation.....but sometime we use transitive action verb like play,eat,drink without object in the sentences while spoken English for example.... PersonA- where are your children? Person B-they are playing in the garden. In this example 'play' is transitive action verb but it has not taken object like they are playing 'cricket' in the garden. is it ok to use transitive action verb without object? If it is ok then what to say to verb'play'in below sentence. They are playing in the garden. In above sentence....the verb 'play'....is it transitive or intransitive. Plase let me know......
