Great job my friend! I have had my bus for 5 years and didn't completely understand the relationship between the motor and the power unit. Thanks!

The install and engineering of your generator is excellent. The slide out tray is great for servicing. My Wanderlodge has a 20KW PowerTec unit mounted in the 3rd bay roadside. My engine is not turbocharged but the engineering is the same as your except for your slide out tray and my exhaust exits our the underside of the bus. Thank you for your video. Very informative.

I didn't realize my mechanic had turned the breaker off for it while he was working on it, which is why it didn't start when I hit the starter. Whoops! - lol

Can you talk about the wiring? I just upgraded my Kubota 12 kw that had only a 30 A breaker. Put in a 50 A breaker but had to change the cables from 8 guage and 10 guage to 6 guage wiring to handle the higher amps. Do you have a battery isolator from your engine batteries to your house batteries? 120 volts x 50 amps is 6 kw. Does that mean that each of my two 120 lines on my 12 kw generator can both draw 50 amps each without blowing the breaker? What happens when you are charging with your alternator and generator at the same time? Do you have an automatic transfer switch so that both are not charging at the same time?

why not put a 2" manual oil preassure guage in the dash for the generator

I have the same setup but I have 2 wooden doors that close off the generator (no vents on the outside door like yours) it works fine but seems like the vents would be beneficial, are they essential or not?

Yeah engines need air flow even if it's just convection cooling you gotta have some way to vent vapors out

Have no idea how I ended up here, but...........I want to buy a coach like this just for the diesel generator. Non runner would work if using as stationary housing/shelter. Stainless Steel under a photovoltaic-roofed ramada.

I have a great plan to strip out my hot water tank and add in a little gas engine and truck alternator for a perfect little generator for my truck box camper. Basically for free with a engine from the dump and a spare alternator off my diesel truck

It was a very informative video. I really enjoyed it except for the comment you made about financials. You said if you don’t have at least 10,000 in your pocket you have no right to be driving one of these down the road. Sometimes people put themselves in positions that aren’t always financially sound, but rather do it because they truly enjoy it. Maybe the builders of these coaches shouldn’t release products if they don’t hold up to the everyday use .

I have a 1999 Foretravel with a 10Kw powertech Diesel generator. Mine has a 120v squirrel cage fan, a remote radiator and is supplied by a 200 gal diesel tank. The engine is a Isuzu 3ld1 3 cylinder engine, naturally aspirated. Its quiet, runs great, will run over 50 amps continuous, and is a much better solution than your setup. Most are not Yanmars imo, but Kubota's, Isuzu's and cummings. My coach is a all electric coach, and it runs everything I ask of it and more. My radiator faces backward and exhausts heat into the wheel well. Who would want their radiator facing towards the road where it will pick up dirt, and road kill? And why would I want to exhaust 30 feet away, when sometime you will develop a leak and send CO into your bus? Turbo on a genset? No thanks. Not needed, overly complicates things and is a PIA to fix and service. Your comments about diesel engines not able to run over 2200 rpm is grossly inaccurate. Many diesel engines can go far beyond that, over 3k. They are designed to have the power curve and maximum torque at lower speeds. But they do need to be run higher at times to burn off carbon. On a genset, the RPM's are set to provide the amount of amps and hertz you need. 1800 is for 120/240 volts and 60 Hertz. There are many higher rpm gensets out there. They are noisy, use more fuel, and vibrate more. While changing the oil more frequently is great for your engine, not so great for your wallet.... 100 hours seems a bit excessive to me, but to each his own. I will stick with my power tech. Prevost is a overly complicated high maintenance money hungry, high cost coach. If you can afford that kind of complexity, then good for you. Foretravels have their own level of complexity as well, but not nearly as much. But I guess the wow factor of the Prevost is there. But for commercial applications... its great. But your genset is clean, well maintained, and you did give good advice for taking care of it. So bravo to that.
