1. quite a few = a lot of
2. What got you into _? = How did you start to like___?
3. Fascination = a lot of interest in something
4. Passion = a strong feeling or excitement about something
5. That's neat = That's cool
6. as soon as I got back = immediately after I got back (right away)
7. should've been/should have been = the past of "should be"
8. I ended up = after time, I finally did or became something
9. a teeny bit /a tiny bit = a little/not a lot
10. Bengali = the language of Bangladesh and parts of India
11. picked up = learned without a lot of focus
12. culture shock = confusion and difficulty from being in a new culture
13. reverse culture shock = confusion or difficulty when you return to your culture (things that were 14. normal before are now strange or difficult)
15. I don't feel like I... = I don't think I...
16. immerse = surround/makes something all around you
Immerse yourself in English = put English all around you so you see and hear it everywhere
17. mindset = way of thinking
18. orphan = a child whose mom and dad have died
19. reputation = what people think about a person or a group because of what that person or group has done before
20. seclude = to stay away from other people
21. glean from = learn something slowly or learn one small part at a time
22. drastically different = very, very different
23. infrastructure = the basic buildings and systems a country needs as its foundation. For example, streets, ways to get electricity and water, internet,schools, etc.
24. figure out = come to understand after trying
25. content = satisfied/okay with the situation
26. expectation = what you think will happen or what you think something will be like
27. urban = like a city/in a city way. For example, Dubai is an urban place. The opposite of rural.
28. rural = not a city or big town; the countryside. The opposite of urban
