That was probably the best overview of the car. We just received ours a few days ago, in Germany. We still have a couple of bugs. I am the second driver and I am having a problem connecting my phone as a key. Basic stuff works like locking and unlocking. The other issue is the charging. We have the extended battery so we should get 550 range +/- but we are only getting 455 KM range. We are wondering if the more you drive it the range will change? Still learning about charging stations and the Ford Pass. We have only charged it fully once and that was at my wife's work, it was free. Waiting for install of our home charging system. It's great so far but we have only have about 250 KM on it!
@CarsWithSteve
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Peter! The max range on the extended battery is currently around 483km as per Ford corporate. The range may drop over time as the lithium battery fuel cells are used and recharged which is standard with electric cars. Personal driving habits (slow vs pedal to the metal starts), whether you condition the vehicle before driving and your braking habits will also affect the total range. Interesting that you're having issues with your phone as a key. I've heard that issue from a few other drivers but here's a useful article on a Mach-E forum that you can check out that goes into depth about secondary PAAK users - www.macheforum.com/site/threads/phone-as-a-key-for-second-user.3528/

Great walk-through! When I use the "valet" mode on my Mach-E, it's different than what you show. It generates a random temporary 8 digit code that looks like this: 12345-678 ... and instructions to use the first 5 digits to unlock the door, and all 8 digits to start the car. It also sends the same code to the Ford Pass app and also an email to the owner -- if the valet didn't write down the codes after parking the car, you can remind them of the codes using your phone. No need to give the valet your only key-fob ... which is great!

@TheVirtualTim
3 жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve I wanted an all-electric car in the SUV/CUV size range. That mostly made me look at Tesla (e.g. Model Y). While I admire what Tesla has done, I thought the interior was a bit *too* minimalistic ... and the closed system (no CarPlay, no Android Auto) put me off a bit. That and ... then there's the look of the front-end of the Model Y which reminds me of puckering lips -- not a design fan. Other cars like the VW ID.4 aren't available. But I really like the look/styling of the Mach-E and think it's easily the best looking car in the category. I love that the interior is modernized ... but without stripping away every possible control and moving it to the monitor. I like that the Mach-E has a driver info display in front of the steering wheel rather than piling everything on the center screen. It's a nicer interior.
@CarsWithSteve
3 жыл бұрын
@@TheVirtualTim Great feedback and comparison between the two of them! I've heard from a few folks about not being the biggest fans of the interior of the Model Y.. @@CarsWithSteve Just so you know. If Ford wants to compete with Tesla, they should enable the live camera feeds front and back. Actually Tesla has no front/bumper camera like the mustang but does have a central/windshield-mounted one. Tesla also has 1 each on the B pillars. Also software updates must be frequent and allow the car to have more features over time. Ok. I guess the last one is now a "wish list" item for Ford as it is a car company after all... and not a software company like Tesla is. I'm guessing Ford has outsourced its software development team for the Mach E.

@@raikon371 Agree that they should have those cameras enabled for a live view - this is Ford's first production year for the car so who knows what will happen in the next few years. The screen ratio for CarPlay showed at 9:43 is so weird in this car! Because the screen is oriented in portrait, CarPlay seems to accommodate for the width of the display, and shows only 4 icons per row. And as the screen is giant, so are the icons! They look like a zoomed UI for visually unpaired people, frankly. But that's not all, CarPlay is also boxed within a horizontal partial view inside the giant vertical tablet, so because the display then adopts a horizontal ratio, CarPlay can only show 2 rows of (giant) icons. Some other car manufacturers manage to show more real estate in CarPlay in new cars that have actually smaller displays! See e.g. the Hyundai IONIQ 5 or the Kia EV6.
@CarsWithSteve
3 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that more of the screen real estate isn't utilized in Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It's the same issue that came with the larger Sync3 screen in the Explorer ST. I'm hoping that Ford reads these comments and does something about it. The more people bring issues up, the more likely manufacturers are going to listen to what they're saying so I'd also recommend contacting Ford USA/Canada directly with that one

It is important to have the "stop charging" due to the "higher tier" fee of charging at certain time of the day. I was hoping the Mach E can do the "stop charging".

You're welcome! There is the option of setting up charge times when you setup a charge location so that you're taking advantage of off-peak rates I'll make sure to go into detail on that when I shoot the video for the 2022 model (that will also have better audio)

Having an alert that goes off every time you turn off a car will just be ignored after time. Hyundai has the same implementation however it only alerts when there is actually weight on the back seat. Wish more companies had that function, but at least Ford is working towards it.
@CarsWithSteve

Agree with you there on conditioning. Hopefully checking the back seat becomes a habit before ignoring the alert happens though I wonder if it would have the same ignore the alert effect if the sound changed either every time the vehicle was turned off or every few weeks

@CarsWithSteve

It's the vehicle's electric heater! The button will work in some climate control modes and the button itself doesn't turn off the climate control system. By toggling the E-Heat off it will help to extend the range of the vehicle by reducing power consumption!

@@CarsWithSteve The quality of those older cameras were terrible, I feel like this is the same backup camera picture as my 2014 Ford Edge has, just jumping to a 2018 Jeep GC, the quality is night and day better. I have not been able to see the Mach-E in person but I will test drive when they finally at my dealership. It doesn't look like Ford really invested in updating the cameras. Our 2017 F-150 had the same problem, but not with my father Ram pickup truck. I love Ford, I've had a couple of them, but I don't want to feel like they been cutting corners to save money in something that I will look at for the next 3/6 years. This is the Tesla Killer! Another brutal day for the troubled car maker as Tesla's shares crossed a key selling point. It looks to be in a death spiral. So what is going on? One word, "Mustang" Ever since FORD reveled it's all NEW Mustang Mach E and F-150 EV, Elon has been pounding the table telling investors that the shares in Tesla are overpriced. Very few people listened to him other than his brother (Kimbal Musk) who dumped a boat load of Tesla shares and ran as quick as possible towards the exit doors. Elon decided to stash Billion of dollars into "imaginary money" rather than investing the money back into Tesla, just in case. Deliveries of the Mustang Mach E just started, and people from all walks of life want one NOW! Reviews have been outstanding, and many are saying that it is the BEST EV on the market today. Why shouldn't it be? It has taken BEST crossover of the year, 2021. Tesla didn't even make the short list. Days ago, Elon announced that the price on Tesla cars need to come down and he immediately started slashing prices. (We believe that this it due to a lack of buyers as buyers are lining up to place their money on the Stylish Mustang Mach E, which blows away any EV out there). Some have feared that Tesla cars my be piling up in empty lots as there are no buyers in site. "Battery Massaging" may be required as the cars sit on lots for who knows how long. It looks like big time investors have finally taken off the blindfold, and are heading out all exit doors as they leave the small investor holding the bag and looking on in utter horror.

I've had a few people saying they love the Mach-E over the Tesla.. One person said they had driven the Tesla 3/Y and found it had better acceleration but the Mach-E handled much better. Sounds like you've done quite a bit of research! I've had so many people say how excited they are about the Mach-E as well.. and in a few years when Ford releases the actual electric Mustang.. damn will that be a good day There are a bunch of companies trading at 100x + their market cap.. it's actually a bit terrifying and is looking like retail investors are going to be burned again

@@CarsWithSteve To me .... it looks like ....It was another stomach turning day for investors of Tesla shares. Once again, shares in Tesla tanked lower, and may soon require life support. So what happened today? Earlier this week Tesla announced that they were slashing prices left and right on there vehicles just as the NEW Mustang Mach E started to arrive into car dealerships. It appears that the Mach E is turning heads. Even Tesla buyers and Tesla fans are going all in on the Mach E. At the same time, Ford announced that their average car price has been bringing in 5% more money. It appears that people will pay a little more for a top quality vehicle that is built right. REMEMBER - BUSINESSES SLASH PRICES WHEN SOMETHING IS NOT SELLING. YOU DON'T SLASH PRICES WHEN DEMAND IS GREATER THAN SUPPLY. Also, an inside community just discovered how fictional the Cybertruck bookings are. If you haven't been keeping tabs, this action by groups of people helps to drive a stock to the roof : (14) How Many Tesla Cybertrucks Can You Order? - KZitem If you have 10,000 people putting a $100 deposit on a car, that will total 1 million cars. Tell someone that you have bookings for 1 million cars, and the share price in your company goes through the roof. So you might say, would people do this just to turn a profit of a few million dollars each? Dah? Why not? A deposit does not mean a sale. This scheme was that of a "genius" We checked in with a number of top ranking analysts for their take and target price for Tesla shares. Brace yourselves: Gordon Johnson / GLJ Research - Tesla Price Target $67.00 Toni Sacconaghi / Bernstein - Tesla Price Target $180.00 Frank Schwope / Norddeutsche Landesbank - Tesla Price Target $240.00 Brian Johnston / Barclays - Tesla Price Target $230.00 Ryan Brinkman / J.P.
