For 71-76 and 91-96, French uses the words from 11 to 16. Ex) 72=soixante-douze, 93=quatre-vingt-treize 81 and 91 don't use the word 'et'.
There are the words septante (BE and CH), huitante (CH only) and nonante (BE and CH) but they aren't used in France, though we'll still understand you

An important thing wasn't explained in this video. How to say 71, 72 or 91, 92? Should it be "soixante-dix-un" or "soixante-et-onze"? Believe me, it's not so easy for a beginner. Let's say 70 and 72 in other languages: SETENTA / SETENTA Y DOS (in Spanish) or SETTANTA / SETTANTADUE (in Italian) or SIEDEMDZIESIĄT / SIEDEMDZIESIĄT DWA (in Polish) or HETVEN / HETVEN KETTŐ (in Hungarian) or СЕМЬДЕСЯТ / СЕМЬДЕСЯТ ДВА (in Russian). Following this logic, it should be SOIXANTE-DIX-DEUX, but it's not. It's soixante-douze. Luckily when it comes to 77, 78, 79 or 97, 98, 99 this problem doesn't exist. Also, it should be added that "et" doesn't appear in numbers such as 81, 91. In my opinion that's too much information to get in 5 minutes. Numbers from 11 to 60 would be enough for one episode all the more that we use them very often in everyday situations such as telling time.

***** vingt (if there is many) only takes a "s" at the end if there is no other numbers after, so basically every numbers finishing by 80 too because there is many "vingts"! Also if you find 70-80 and 90 hard, there is swiss version of them which is "Septante" , "Huitante" or "Octante" and "Nonante" For example for the number 96 instead of "Quatre-vingt-seize" (4x20+16) you just say "Nonante-six" (90+6)

I don't think so. Many of french hust don't understand, you know why ? Because it's not french. It's like saying 하나, 둘, 셋 to a japanease. I'm french and when someone tells me 'septante' I know what it means but many french really don't. But you're right. some of them don't want to. Anyways, this video is about learning french, not belgium..
@grassytramtracks
Жыл бұрын
Septante is French, just in the variety spoken in Belgium and Switzerland. Korean and Japanese are different languages, Metropolitan French and Wallonian are not. I might find septante, huitante and nonante harder to process but I still understand. Even if you haven't heard it before, they aren't hard to work out simply by analogy with quarante, cinquante and soixante
