With 2 blocks across and 3 blocks down plus sashing and borders it would be the perfect size that my quilt guild makes for children we donate quilts to. I would just use colorful colors for the kids and cute prints for the 4-1/2” blocks.

What a fun quilt! Your block is so much more interesting than the original solid color block. Seems to me you could make this whole block using the two-at-a-time no waste flying geese blocks, 16 geese per block, plus some squares and rectangles of the background.
@MrsGraphiteGal

4 at a time is even faster. 5 1/4" square from background, 4 small squares from the accent, 2 7/8" . Much easier.

I want to make it with the Robert Kaufman PINK LEMONADE layer cake! I have been loving that fabric for so long, and WHAT would I make with it? This is the perfect pattern! I just have to pick out 2 dark colors for the triangles! The amazing thing is that this uses only 1/2 of the layer cake!

@@MrsGraphiteGal Agreed...but for variable sky pieces you can mix up the squares for greater scrappiness...I would upsize slightly using (1) 5.5" square and (4) 3" squares with sliver trim down. I use Deb Tucker's Wing Clipper as trim down which saves me time and ensures a perfect unit every time.
@MrsGraphiteGal
