What helped me was to sort of over emphasize the letter/syllable just before the "R". Of course I scaled back on the emphasis but that trick just got my mouth working in the right direction.

I wish I was an American English native speaker so I could try this method... I can hear an r roll also in "yadda yadda" when Americans say it. Before learning how it was written I thought it was actually spelled "yara yara"! Your accent when you speak Italian is very southern, btw :)
