Hi- By chance are you Jordanian? Or how close is your dialect to Jordan? I noticed that Lebanon and Syria speak a little more light, not as emphatic as in Jordan... or at least in Zarqa, where my friends are from.

This does not sound like North Levantine (syrian/lebanese), it's South Levantine (jordanian/palestinian).

She's probably Jordanian or Palestinian. Jordanian is harsher than Palestinian. Some Palestinian accents are very soft, a bit close to egyptian.

ivor worrell Not quite. raH is a so called "stem-changing verb". The prefixes and suffixes in both the past and present are regular though.

i know it makes sense in the context, but maybe good to mention, that ba7r actually means "sea" in Arabic :) I don't know if levantine people use "shata", because i learnt this word in MSA :D
