Thank you for doing a lesson on this topic! As a parent, I just realized I use these types of phrases regularly with my young kids (“you’re being good, helpful, brave” etc.) Now they get to hear them in Spanish too :). Gracias, Professor!

Welcome. I try to target everything that is commonly used. Thanks for your kind comment. valiente-brave, útil-useful I am always keenly listening to music, tv, random conversations looking for lesson ideas. Your approach to learning is so refreshing. Keep up the good work. Any lesson requests please let me know. Gracias Mary, hasta pronto, Profesor Pablo.

I know so many vocabulary words in Spanish, and I can almost always understand Spanish. It's just the grammar that prevents me from being able to talk in Spanish. This is the BEST grammar video I've seen.

This is really exciting! Thanks for the kind remarks. Go back if you can and go through all the videos at your own pace. They are sequenced from basic to advanced. Muchísimas gracias y hasta pronto, Profesor Pablo.

So here's another of my weird, tangential, questions. I noticed that honesto takes the 'des' to become deshonesto (close to the dishonest in english), and cortés is very similar in this way as well (descortés, like discourteous). However, satisfied (satisfecho) doesn't go this way (insatisfecho). Is there a rule of thumb in flipping the tone? paciente goes to impaciente and modesto goes to immodesto, so there is some commonality there, hence my curiosity in case there's some way to make an educated guess on the fly.

Not that comes to mind. Learn as you go and doing exactly what you are doing, becoming aware of commonalities and yet cognizant of deviations. Gracias y hasta pronto, Profesor Pablo.
