Hm, I fear it is not G but G6 in the first part, meaning G with open-e on high-e-string, and probably F7j, not plain F. It sounds more original - and better.

Hi Lauren. This is not just a comment on this video in particular, but it's a comment for all your work, all your videos, because I want to thank you. - You are personable and friendly and it is really very kind and noteworthy that you make your videos freely available and you teach with heart and soul. Really. - I am 69 years old (live in Cologne, Germany) and haven't played for about 15 years (wasn't really good at it either - could only play a few simple chords) until I heard NOW AND THEN a few weeks ago and I felt the same as you: after listening to it a few times, tears of emotion came to my eyes. - And now I'm going to practise again, just like you show "here" and with "Eleanor Rigby-Two Chord" and I'm curious to see if I can do it halfway and how long I can hold out ..... Yes, of course I've also watched other "NOW AND THEN - how to play" videos, but your relaxed manner has finally "woken me up". (I may even have wanted to try my hand at the piano again for over 35 years - but I've only had a few lessons. God help me - and anyway, I first have to "find" one or a keyboard ....) .... Honestly, thanks again for your efforts - stay healthy and full of life, Manfred (Translated with the help of deepl - I understand your speech quite well, but such a long text - so deepl helps )

Hello, I am in my 60's and trying to learn the Guitar. (Retired now and have the time) My goal is to play a song in Church next summer. I am thinking "The Old Wooden Cross". Please consider doing a lesson on it. My Christmas present to me may be your lessons.

Hey Lauren, that's so beautiful! Do you think is possible to have a beginner version of the song? ❤

With the Barre chords it's difficult. I do give some suggestions in this video. The verse and all down strums is a great beginner way to go about it.

@@LaurenBateman: After the "One, two, three..." intro, the second guitar chord (after A minor) is indeed "E minor", NOT the "G major". that you're strumming.

@johnshea5253 Sometimes, telling apart a G major chord from an E minor chord, especially when you're trying to figure it out by ear, can be quite the challenge. These chords are like cousins-alike but not quite identical. An E minor chord includes E, G, and B notes, while a G major chord is formed by G, B, and D notes. Imagine, just one note separates them! So, it's not surprising if you occasionally mix them up-they're that close in resemblance. What puzzles me, though, is why some folks feel the need to critique or comment negatively on a tutorial. Music's about interpretation, right? Whether it's a tad different from the original, who cares?

Hey Lauren! What is a "bar cord"? I know that is a "duuh" question for some. It's always confused me. Thanx!
@LaurenBateman

It's a chord where one finger plays more than one note at the same time.
@BradleyOverton

When you play a barre chord, you use one finger to press down multiple strings at once across the fretboard, essentially acting like a movable nut. This allows you to play different chords by shifting the same shape up and down the neck. They can be a bit challenging at first, but once you get the hang of them, they open up a whole new world of possibilities for playing various chords and songs! Keep practising, and you'll master those barre chords in no time. 🎸🎶
