How can one differentiate between "özel" meaning special and "özel" meaning private? Thank you for your videos, they are always very light hearted and fun :)

I'm afraid it all comes down to context. There is no way to tell which one is which just by looking at the word itself. Glad to hear you liked our videos! Cheers, İçten Team TurkishClass101.com

Bianca C. I don't know if this will help you but, to make the sentence less ambiguous, you can use common adjective phrases instead of using the word by itself. For example: özel hayat, özel eşya. In that case, the example given above would be “Benim özel hayatım seni ilgilendirmez". Or, you can use a similar word, “kişisel"(personal), as a replacement for özel meaning private: kişisel oda, kişisel alan etc.
@BiancaC1

Kont Olaf yeah, that's how I've used it before actually. But the "kişisel" word I didn't know, so that was very helpful, thanks :)

I think chit-chatting is a bad idea for such professional and educational videos. It is also quite dangerous to share your opinions on a culture based on subjective generalizations since you can easily offend or mislead somebody. Besides, it was quite sexist to say "All women would understand you because women like to be right" Although your Turkish and English pronunciation are very clear, I now cannot play this video to my students. Hope next time you guys will be more careful and sensitive about such issues. There are really not many channels with a content like yours and I appreciate your hard work. Thank you.

M. Beyza I understand your point of view as a language teacher but I don't think these videos are actually made with so much of a professional purpose but more to get people interested in learning the language through the app/website afterwards. It's true what you said that the statement is a bit sexist but I suppose she just reflects the general mindset of the Turkish culture. Correct me if I'm wrong though, just expressing my point of view, giving my experience with turkish people. Still love them so much :)

M. Beyza If you are a teacher, I suggest you make your own videos for them. These videos are for people who "cannot afford" paying a professional. If you are a paid instructor, do your job right and instead of criticizing prepare your own lessons.
