Hi, thanks for checking out this video. Here we are looking at a sticking that I have covered in a previous video which was in a 32nd note context (link here: • Learn this cool 32nd n... ). This time we are applying it to a triplet context, or more specifically a '16th note triplet' fill.
To recap I play a demonstration of the sticking slowly. Then I show how the sticking can by applied in a 16th note triplet subdivision by putting it into a four bar loop.
The groove played in the loop has a 12/8 feel but is depicted as a triplet groove in 4/4 to simplify the way the notation is subdivided and to keep a 4/4 pulse. The fill starts on the 4th beat of the 3rd bar and has a polyrhythmic quality to it as the sticking loops every five '8th note triplets', despite being a 'double time' sticking with 10 strokes.
There are three demonstrations of the four bar loop at different tempos. Also included with them is a video overlay showing the notation using 'Groove Scribe'. A link to the Groove Scribe page with this exercise can be found here: gscribe.com/share/KdZKhd51qww...
You can also download the notation in various formats from there.
Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe if you want to see more of these videos!
