That's a good step forward, because all he needed to do was know how to control power in a circuit. He learned that from the LED, so he did the same with the coffee machine. then he used an ethernet shield to connect to his network and then he accessed it from an app on his phone (when connected to wifi) where he controls the on/of function edit: my bad, he was using a webpage xd.

@MikeBoyd
7 жыл бұрын
+Mikko Tervala I did notice. What's the best way to power it and keep it portable?
@miksu103
7 жыл бұрын
Mike Boyd without making it hugely complicated, your best option is just to add an old power supply to it. 5-12v, 100mA to couple amps will work, just make sure the polarity is right. Phone charger should also work.
@miksu103
7 жыл бұрын
Mike Boyd those work if your relay is activated with 5v. If you have a 12v relay, then a 9-12v power supply is needed. Battery powered system would need a modern low power mcu, replace relay with solid state, somehow power down the ethernet or use low power WiFi. But all that is not worth the trouble on a simple hobby project. Arduino is limited, but it's so easy to use because of the massive community and examples.
@satibel
7 жыл бұрын
if you really want a good portable system, I'd suggest using either the ESP8266 or the ESP32 microcontrollers, they are very cheap chips with integrated wifi (the bare 8266 is 2$, and the usb version named NodeMCU is 4$) and consume almost nothing in low power mode (about 1-2ma while maintaining a wifi connection, which translates to 1-2 months per charge off of a 2000mah battery). the middle ground is using a WeMos ESP32 board with an integrated battery holder, which costs about 12$ + a 2000-3000mah lithium 18650 battery for 2-10$ depending on capacity (samsung, sony, panasonic and lg are good brands) And the easiest option is buying a 10Ah powerbank for 15-20$ and plugging your arduino on it Though it might require a 5V relay which costs a couple of bucks. for your coffee machine you could also get a cheap 12 power supply , and solder/fix it to your coffee machine's AC input, or even find a 9-12V supply on your machine's board. also I suggest getting some arduino pro micro or pro mini or ESP boards from aliexpress to stick into your projects if you plan on doing more. You can then prototype on your big arduino board, then put a low cost chip in your project. the pro mini costs 13$ for 10+ 1$ for an usb to rs232 adapter the pro micro has integrated usb and cost 33$ for 10. But having integrated usb allows them to behave as usb keyboards, mouse, tablets, and more.

Why do people brush their teeth before coffee/breakfast? What's the point? Or is it just a British thing?
@christiantmyhre
7 жыл бұрын
Don't really think about it. Maybe it's different, but I am from Scandinavia and it's normal to eat breakfast before leaving the house, so if you brush before you eat/drink, you're teeth/mouth won't be clean all day and imo that's worse than going 5 minutes without brushing them in the morning. Also, is the first thing you do when you wake up to think about how nasty your mouth is? You just run to the bathroom as soon as you wake up?

1 (dumb way). you could buy a sensor to detect sound at a similar frequency as the alarm 2. Make your own clock from scratch with a function for alarm called coffeeAlarm1 set to go off on the tick of 6:30am. then set a function "when this alarm at this time happens, transmit a signal to downstairs receiver telling it to turn on coffee." The box downstairs with the arduino will then receive this and turn on power for the coffee machine, like shown in the video. no need to use a webpage on phone to turn on or off, automated now :)

BlueSkyGaming I really don't think that would be that difficult. If you already knew how to touch type, which he most likely doesn't because he's a content creator, all you have to do is put your left hand in the regular spot on the left keyboard and the right hand on the regular spot on the right keyboard and type.

There's only one thing you did wrong. You didn't power the arduino from the coffee maker's internal power supply, the same one that powered the original circuit. It looks like it ran on 12V, which the 5V regulator on the DC input port of the Uno can accept.
@quantumleap4023

English please.
@Draco-wq1ch
6 жыл бұрын
this was in english....? Basically all he is saying is that he should have used the power supply that was already in the coffee machine to go into the arduino and then back to coffee machine. See, without the hack, it was just coffee machine to the coffee machine, and it was a loop. What Spirit is saying is that he should have just ADDED the arduino to the loop instead of doing some next voltage check shit to get the Arduino it's own source of power, and then getting that to match the coffee machine, etc. Makes sense? This is the simplest way to explain it.
@quantumleap4023
