I love your tutorials, they are so clear and narrated well, it is so good the way you always show the exact paint colours and provide a picture to follow. I've never had the courage to use a palette knife, but you have made me feel I could give it a try. Greetings from England!!

You can dot it... just remember that it's all about the enjoyment of the process, so be prepared to embrace the unpredictability of the knife. Good luck!

I am such a perfectionist...maybe I should try abstract...but it could cause me major stress too. Lol Love this one...too...

I'm the same and I love abstracts. It takes me hours to do the most simple of paintings because I'm so particular, but abstract paintings just seem to flow onto the canvas. Imperfectly perfect.

Hi Christa, In these tutorials I am actually using a very thin student grade paint with no additives... just using a lot of paint. Thanks for watching and have fun painting!

You have merit to have painted man with a large knife... I couldn't to that. Maybe I will try with a thinner knife, and then I am not sure to succeed. Doing little little things with knife it stresses me...😊🙄

I adore you video's! Having been to Italy i am really looking forward to painting this and the Rialto Bridge. I do have a couple of questions before I give it a go. 1.) Is the water still wet when you are gently making your edge of distinction on the lighter wall? I believe the walls are dry, but I am not sure of the water. Especially the way your knife moved so smoothly through the ridges aka "wave" look. 2.) Same when beginning the bridge; Are your paints dry now on the canvas?
@michellethepainter.

Hi Barbi, So glad that you're enjoying the videos. For question 1, the water was still a little wet, but it would work if it was already dry too, the wall was definitely dry by that time. 2, yes the buildings were dry when I started the bridge, but since I was using black, if the paints are still a little wet it should work, because the black tends to overpower most colors except for white. Have fun!

Michell, i'm finding it impossible to paint the bridge and gondola over the thick bumps of paint. Any ideas?
@michellethepainter.

Hi Sandra, painting with a palette knife is fun but it can have its challenges. I would smooth out the paint a little more. You can still achieve the same effect without using globs of paint. You could also try using a small detail brush to paint the boat. I hope that helps!
