EMDR Therapy.
👉 In the example⤴️ : The trigger that led to the real EMDR session that was reenacted was Kyle telling Sheena that he noticed in the mornings (after waking and drinking a glass of water) he needed his pemmican bite snack. Then he needed it again sometime after breakfast. But that after lunch, he’s been fine.
Sheena took that to mean there’s a possible trauma linked to that visceral need to eat.
We conducted the session on our evening walk and got it cleared.
The next day, he didn’t need his morning snacks.
That doesn’t mean he’ll never need them, but the trauma effectively got de-linked.
Sometimes multiple sessions are required, but with each session the link lessens.
⭐️Requires 2 people, who trust each other completely.
👉Immediately, when person A gets triggered by something. 🛑 STOP what you are doing.
Face each other.
The person getting the treatment (A) looks ahead while the person administering EMDR (B) places a finger in front of A’s face (not too close, a comfortable distance for A).
B does a tick-tock, side to side, motion with the raised finger so A can follow with just their eyes (like getting hypnotized).
Then B asks A to think back to their earliest memory of when they felt that same visceral reaction/feeling in the body.
A thinks while eyes are continuing to track B’s finger and might remember a time when they had that same feeling/reaction. A might get pictures or words or a memory might come up.
Go with the FIRST thing that pops up (don’t evaluate or overanalyze).
Talk about it.
Then ask if there was an even earlier memory.
Talk about it.
You are trying to hit on the earliest memory to get to the root of the trauma event.
And that’s it.
It’s very healing if it works.
