Tell me you never drove anything larger then a car, without telling me you never drove anything larger then a car.

I used to drive buses in Rotherham. In fact I started with First bus many years back, training under Canklow bridge. Even though the bus could fit further to the left, as it is too high to go far left the expectation is to stay in the middle painted lane for high vehicles. Turning right there is a pain as you need the cars to anticipate correctly and give way at the bridge as they "should". Bit in reality they come flying off the roundabout and don't look past their bonnet or don't read the situation. I don't see a driving fail from the learner. They were trying to do as they should. A more competent large vehicle driver would have managed it smoother likely, but this is a common issue at that bridge. Thank you for sharing the footage.

I'm a retired instructor. It looks like the student driver is simulating stopping, then moving off from a stop. His only error was underestimating the right turn manoeuvre, he took a moment and completed the turn safely. The low bridge is pretty self explanatory. He / she just needs to gain more confidence, it's not as easy as people think. The following vehicle helped greatly by not acting like a total maniac at a minor delay.

It was a right manouver! Buses are 8' wide 40' long and 9' 9" tall not as big a fucking puny car! It was the right manouver swerving to left to take a tight right turn!

This driver is learning. The only thing I see wrong is maybe they were 2 foot further to the right under the tunnel as they could have been, but until you have learnt or tried to drive a bus your comments really do not matter ! Especially in these single deckers. This one’s Almost 40 feet long people don’t realise how scary it can be driving these things. And yes I’m a bus driver 😂

That wasn’t a fail, he didn’t even need to reverse to correct, it’s not easy learning to drive a bus, I’m a trainee bus driver and I actually did fail when I took a left turn to wide and had to reverse to correct, that’s a fail, he did fine, he went slow and got around the corner, nothing wrong with that

What was the fail?

He was probably out for the first time getting use to handling a long vehicle we’ve all been there I could see no fail just a driver getting his confidence and use to driving a vehicle much bigger than his car no harm was done bet know he takes that turn in his stride I wish he/she well

his instructor should've told him where to position the bus.

Learners do tend to fail, it's part of the *learning* process....might've been their first initial days with the bus. The person just needed more steering on a bit quicker and you'd have to steal the road here clearly with the room that's given. As for the bridge: generally for large vehicles, even if it's a single deck, sticking to the centre is the best option. Pointless upload lol
