Morning Ms Cindy, hope you are well today. Interesting how the problems that plague us, are universal! Some days, I can't make fingers, arms, even feet, do anything right. I just set it aside, come back later. I'll attribute it to age! Gotta have some reason! Anyway, your pleasant disposition brings me back every morning 😅.

Oh and I've only got 3 (correction 2) fingers on my right hand that work. Jango Reinhardt is my hero for his amazing story of how a fire didn't stop him. We could use more stories like that too. Thanks again. I wake up to you now.

That is an amazing story. His playing improved as he found ways to adapt to his disability after the fire. Thanks for sharing his story too❤️

@@guitarnotions , right, can't let some bad fingers get in the way of mastering our own difficulties. Great idea for future video too. 😆

Well it’s called “we are decaying outwardly, but being renewed inwardly day by day♥️” but I’d say you are doing pretty well 👍🏻. I saw on another teacher’s channel that these finger exercises etc. actually rewire our neural pathways … Thanks for this lesson. Always good content. Looks like your views are growing too.

Thank you so much for doing this today. I love how you pick so naturally and appreciate the time you’ve taken to show us. I’ve again written these exercises in my book as I’m just starting my journey into finger picking after only really strumming for the last year and a half I’ve been learning. So it’s great to have these fun , great sounding pieces to play with. I do get very bored very quickly trying to do things like scales.

Good morning Cindy. This video is full of "fancy" moments for me. I love that you teach Chopsticks and also the chords up the neck. I have been playing open position chords for so long, I don't know the chords up the neck. This will be great practice when I feel like I can't play any song on the guitar but want to make music. Thanks again. Btw, if you want ideas for another lesson (not that you need it) maybe you could show me how to play I'm a Little Teapot in a Travis or chord melody style or even in a slow blues style. I think it would be fun. Cheers and God bless.

Obviously, we’re all different and there’s more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Fingerstyle guitarist Steven King assigns the thumb to strings 5 and 6, and then uses the other 4 fingers for strings 1 through 4. Blind Rev. Gary Davis “only” used the thumb, index and middle fingers. Thanks for the fun lesson. Oh, by the way, it’s Malcolm Gladwell if you feel like doing an edit.

Oh did I write gladwells name wrong? Thanks for letting me know. Not sure I can change it now but I will make a note in the description. It’s so interesting all the different finger picking styles. I think elizabeth Cotton played her guitar up side down so her fingers were assigned to the low notes. Her thumb played the melody. 😀 thanks for listening in❤️

My grandfather was born in Maui. His mother Sarah Makahilahila taught him to play. Sarah was native Hawiian. My grandfather never knew his father or of his father's origins. When he was 14, Grandpa was a stow away. When he jumped ship, he took the name of the ship's captain "Griffen," - figuring it was a good high-ranking name. He played with a plastic thumbpick and three fingerpicks. He would play an old no name acoustic he bought at a flea market. He used the same guitar for fingerpicking and slide. He would set the guitar on his lap and use a Bakelite "roundnose" tone bar for his slide playing.
