Really neat video, the molten metal looks super cool in the dark environment.

Thanks! It's really fun/challenging to do, I can't wait to play with it more.

Neat camera shots, ive thought of building something for one of my auto darkening helmets and using a gopro in it see if that would be a budget friendly option.

After watching your video I'm really tempted to pick up a gopro, I really like that first person perspective. If the gopro gives you any exposure controls set it to underexpose as much as possible when trying to get weld shots. I tried this with my cellphone, just dragging it's exposure as dark as it would get, and it did a pretty good job.

I’ve been interested in a career in this field. Any good starting points?

Right now I'm taking classes at my local community college. If you took one stick welding course (SMAW, shielded metal arc welding), or MIG (metal inert gas) course, you'd have enough skill to get an entry level job working with either of those processes.

Or pick up a cheap harbor freight stick welder, an auto darkening hood, safety glasses, gloves, wear long sleeves, and find some metal to burn. I'd go with 1/8" 7018 and 6010/6011 rod to start for SMAW.

You are just fusing, and your tungsten is too far away from your work kid.

Lol "kid" and "fusing". Too good.

For anyone curious "fusing" would be another way of saying "autogenous welding", which is indeed what I'm doing, fusing two pieces of metal, this was the intent and the outcome.
