not only does this help them mentally, but it helps their spine get use to the movement without being such a shock. So it's very good, many adults ignore child's pain and pushes them thru it, and kids will have life long problems because of it. So glad there's still adults that value children's safety.

The only cool thing backflips do with taekwondo are for like demonstrations where they show off a bunch of different flip kick variants, it's actually pretty cool Edit: Some other things you can do with it is for a competition category called freestyle poomsae. As a form it's a bit much compared to the forms people usually learn as a color belt but yk, something else it does. On top of that it's good at pulling some baddies 🔥

Agility and coordination and self confidence But I think being able to do a flip is a great mental challenge to overcome (Keep in mind that taekwondo has very many advanced techniques that are already just hard to physically complete) So having the challenge to overcome doing a flip is a nice introduction Its not necessary and it probably wont help you that much in sparring besides whenever doing jump kicks you feel more comfortable in the air But doing a backflip also like kicking or whatever requires more skill than athleticism (kind of both but u can be athletic and not be able to do it but u can be less athletic to an extent as long as u know the technique to do a flip) And a lot of perseverance Bc it looks cool kids will be more into the art and have fun but also it teaches them that perseverance pays off and its a technique that you do correctly only if you actually do it correctly like there is not much room for error in contrast to throwing a punch or a kick bc a lot of them can feel „right“ But a flip u see and know the existence and correctness of you can tell Its like when we learn a specific kind of math in school we wont need much but knowing how to use it and how it works still proves useful to be able to have seen because it still trains our brain to see a certain logic

This is also very good muscular preperation for the backflip. To let yourself fall and jump into a direction you have no visual information about, requires to overcome a lot of natural caution. The confidence and flexibility training is important for all sports, since practicing safe falling is the first lesson you will go through.
