We make it in the jar, it works well can't tell the difference in the crispness or taste. Thanks for sharing!!

Find a farmers almanac calender. we get them at the country store here in Transylvania county NC but a lot of old feed n seed places have them. Check with your local ag extension agent.

@@AppalachianMemoryKeepers I would just love to hear a discussion "on the porch". My great Auntie who raised me spoke every so often but I was just too young to take mind of such things. I do hope you consider it. There's much wisdom shared through speaking alone - and it shouldn't be lost. :)

Thank you so very much for sharing this. ❤️ My mother‘s mother‘s people ( in North and South Carolina) made Krout in big wooden barrels in the cellar, she told me it was delicious.
