Wow, i had no idea these screws existed, guess I'll attempt to fix my leather strap for my bag for the price of 1/10 of a new strap! Excellent and informative!

Handy fix, extended life for sure! Snip, snip...did you get handy with a pair of scissors? The facial hair looks shorter.

I took about 125mm off a month ago. It was getting stuck in shirt button holes…

any idea if the orientation of the 2 screws matter much? making a diy leather backpack trying to avoid stitching through 6mm of leather if possible, wonder if I can put the 2 screws vertically in relation to the strap for the shoulder attachments. and for the backpack strap the bottom comes out at like 45 degree angle, do i need to adjust the position of the 2 screws (I imagine one screw will get more force if I place them horizontal to the strap)

As I understand it, the second screw is in place to avoid the piece pivoting around the first. You want the two tangential to the potential movement direction. That being said, leather with still flex either way so I don’t think it makes too much difference. I’ve seen bag straps laid out both horizontally and vertically; 90% aesthetic decision. The important thing is that there are two.

This is the best video I've seen on this subject. Would you recommend the same for a heavy book bag?

Absolutely, brass Chicago screws can handle a surprisingly large amount of weight.
