The time had come to leave our spot at Kluane Lake in the Yukon. This had been our favorite Boondocking spot of the trip so far. It was sad to leave this place, but this is the day we finally crossed the Alaskan border here in on the Alcan highway.
This is the first time we officially cross the Alaskan border here on the Alcan. we first crossed into Canada on June 12 and we have taken just over a month to make our way through the Canadian Rockies to the Alaskan border.
We had a quick one night stop in Tok Alaska. We fueled up at the Tesoro station. They have a great washing station here so you can wash the Alcan off of your rig. And trust me, that’s something you will want to do after being on those roads for so long. I feel like we could’ve made an entire other Canada with all of the dirt we washed off. 🤣
We met back up with our friends, the @haagbrigade to make our way down to Valdez Alaska. We had not made any reservations in Valdez, and we didn’t know it yet, but there was a big fishing event at the time we were supposed to be arriving. We could not find an RV park that had a spot for both of our families. Thankfully, we had met a nice couple from Florida back at Kluane lake who were on their way to Eagles Rest RV park for a summer of workamping. They were able to get us in, and our friends stayed at the RV park across the street.
The drive into Valdez Alaska is breathtaking to say the least. Driving up through the Thompson Pass area, we thought it was one of the most beautiful drives we have done so far.
Our 19 year anniversary was July 24, and we would be spending it here in Valdez. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being one of our favorite places in all of Alaska! On our next video, we will go through some of the things we did around the town as we discover Valdez
