@@tedthurgate the climate has been changing since the beginning of time. The south pole was once a lush tropical garden, glaciers once covered large areas of the world, yet here we are. Will some people die...sure, but again that's life itself you're born, you die, from what or where you don't know until the end. The green flash occurs when the very first ray of sun (sunrise) or the very last ray ( sunset) uses the atmosphere as a prism. The conditions must be perfect with no clouds at all. The first ray goes thru the spectrum with the blues and purples not discernible because of the dark background, then a one second or so bright neon green wink, the size and shape of half a sun and the yellows and reds not visible because of the bright sun. The whole sequence lasts less than two seconds and a good one is unmistakable. I have seen in one really good one in Barbados and never again. Sunrise is usually the best but difficult in that you don't know exactly where the sun will come up, It is very real. And beautiful. or

Oh, they are absolutely real but from what Elayna says they have a blown up expectation of what it should be like and this may be why they do not see them. The green flash is an optical phenomenon that you can see shortly after sunset or before sunrise. It happens when the sun is almost entirely below the horizon, with the barest edge of the sun - the upper edge - still visible. For a second or two, that upper rim of the sun will appear green in color. It’s a brief flash of the color green - the legendary green flash. It’s really quite exciting to see, especially if you’ve been looking for one.

Riley, enjoyed the Bertcast. I like Bert, his High School Russia trip story is great. Get yourself a automotive test light. An old school, incandescent bulb type, not LED. You need the load that the bulb produces to properly check the circuit. when connections or wire corrode it might light the LED and will read voltage, but it wont light that test light. this way you know the wiring is 100%. You could do a voltage drop test with the voltmeter, but that would require a wire run back to the battery.

I've seen the green flash at least ten times. All in the keys. It has to be almost zero clouds around the sunset and the sun has to set into the water.

Agree the keys is the best place to see the green flash!

Here are some tips for getting to see the green flash. 1. Clear as possible, no fog or hase or clouds in sight of the sunset 2. The sunset must have around 5 miles of flat water to appear that the sun is setting into the water. 3. Don't just stare at the sunset 😆. If you have hope for an ideal green flash conditions, Look at the sunset but not the sun untill it is 80% or so below the horizon. 4. The Green flash is just that, it's a .5 second long flash of the green spectrum of light coming from the sun and through our atmosphere. Keeping your eyes from harsh lights is key just before the flash. It's like conditioning your eyes to let more light in so when you look at the right moment with the right conditions you get to see a green flash. The Green flash I'll never forget is, sailing from key West to key largo and seeing it as we were sailing.

I've seen more than 7 green flashes all appearing a bit different to the eyes depending on the intensity of the sun on those given days where they were present, according to my awareness and perception. I have noticed a bit of a pattern over the years, between October-early December on the west coast, Cali.

Every time I see Darwin smile and those big blue eyes of his, he just makes everything better. Such a cutie. And Lenny is growing up so fast. Hope you had a smooth sail to Bahamas and look forward to seeing all the new adventures that await you and the crew.

Gwynn (wife) became air sick for the first time after our first child. We used to fly our plane all over the place - and that ended. Even today, she's still prone to it.

Similar thing happened to my wife, except it was motion sickness in general and vertigo. She used to be able to handle boats in 3-4ft seas, roller coasters and similar activities, but after our first daughter, any dropping sensation would give her immediate intense vertigo. It's a little bit better now, but not much, and we can't go out on the water with much chop at all or she's miserable, which is hell for someone who grew up / live in coastal New England.

Same happened to me after I had kids. I can't even handle the swings at the playground now. Before pregnancy I was in the passenger seat filming street car racing at 180mph.

@@le4905 I used to have no issues with speed or heights. I used to climb, went skydiving, actually really enjoyed heights. I got in a car wreck about 6 years ago and cartwheeled my car off of a highway exit ramp. I wasn't injured much, walked away with some bruises, but I now often get vertigo from heights, even just a video on screen can give me severe vertigo l, at least for a moment or two. I don't know for certain that they're related, but that's the only thing that I can think of. The weird thing is I can still drive over tall bridges or visit a skyscraper without issue, it's only when I look straight down or am shown a particular perspective that it happens. The human body is weird.

I saw the green flash with my wife at Ocean Beach in San Francisco at sunset. No clouds. Perfect day. Incredible sunset. As the sun dipped behind the horizon we saw it. We were blown away by how bright it was as well. Whod've thunk it. A full time landlubber sees it by chance

I've seen the green flash. In my case, it was like a green laser pointer from the horizon in the direciton of the sun. It appeared one or maybe max two seconds after the whole disc of the sun had become invisible.
