Lebron IS the modern NBA. These players, for the most part, only care about themselves. They don't care about team success, its all about their "respect" and their business. And tbh, it's partly the owners faults. The players watched for YEARS how the owners manipulated the rules to earn more money, trading away players that gave their hearts to the franchise without a 2nd thought. So is this just a case of reaping what you sow? But overall I can't stand the mentality of the players in the NBA these days. It's why I stopped watching 10 years ago after I saw what the league was turning into. It's not going to change either with Adam Silver in charge. He has NO backbone. And Jeanie Buss has destroyed the Lakers franchise. She is allowing Lebron to push her around and hold his power over her head. Man the NBA sucks now. I'm just glad I was in my 20's when MJ and the Bulls were so dominant. Great time to be a fan of the NBA.

Never been a Lebron fan and it makes me happy to see other ppl really wake up to how toxic this guy has been for the NBA. As a player, yes, hes very talented. Hes had plenty of success. But he has set a precedent in the league of just up n leaving when things don't go your way and upending the competitive balance of the league. And he has not been a good ambassador with his constant comments about things he clearly knows nothing about. His remarks about the Rockets GM over the China situation i found to be gutless and ridiculous. To question freedom of speech, one of the most important and fundamental rights in America and a big part of what our country is built on, to me shows someone who is willing to sell out for a few bucks more. As a very pricipaled person myself, i cannot get past that. And the constant throwing teammates, GMs and coaches under the bus instead of taking the blame on himself shows that no, hes not a great leader. Great leaders put it on them to take it off of their teammates. They take the blame and put the spotlight on themselves when things go wrong so that it won't negatively impact their teammates..All the greats of this, or any other sport, do this. But Lebron is that "when it works out i want 90 percent of the praise and when it doesn't, i want 10 percent of the blame" kinda guys. I dont want that guy on my team as the alpha because he doesn't have the mindset of a truly great leader.

@@jbellflower83 actually social media is the last place to have a debate. It’s divisive and often just devolves into name calling and a bunch of nonsense. If you want to hate on Lebron that’s your prerogative. Have at it. To say he’s not a leader is straight BS though. The man literally took his team to the finals 8 STRAIGHT years, been to 10 finals and won 4 chips with 3 different teams. Oh and multiple gold medals. You don’t do that by just showing up on the court and playing. But carry on..
@jbellflower83
18 күн бұрын
@@genebaker5259 While I don't disagree with you that social media is divisive AF, you assume I'm not a rational person because I don't share your opinion. He's a talented player, I don't deny that. He also surrounded himself with stacked team and was in a historically weak conference. His first run I'll give him credit, it was impressive that he got that team to the finals. They got spanked by a superior Spurs team but I'll give him his props there. Then he couldn't do it again and made a show (and a very distasteful one at that) of leaving and joining a team with 2 other elite players. Bosh and Wade were both elite at the time that team formed. Also, we know he clashed with Spolstra and thought he knew better, the evidence of that is out there. A repeating theme throughout his career that he got coaches pushed out and used his position as the darling of the league to control the hiring and firing of multiple players. So he goes to Miami, proclaims "not one, not two, nor three" which was so stupid and arrogant that I was glad to see him fail against a real team in Dallas that first year and he completely disappeared. There is no defending that series, he sucked. Then he finally breaks through and wins a couple (though that second one he should kiss Ray Allen's backside everyday for making that shot). The Spurs come back and absolutely wreck the heat in the second meeting and he bails again to go to Cleveland. Now, TBF, i didn't even have a problem with him going back to Cleveland cause I thought he should have never left in the first place. He again brings in an elite talent in Love to go with Kyrie, gets the coach fired again to bring in another guy and they lose in the finals to the Warriors. Then 2016 and I will give him all the credit in the world for that because they won. Granted, again, he should thank Kyrie and kiss his ass everyday for making some huge shots in down the stretch (kinda like Allen). Then they get wrecked the next 2 years by GS Because they just had to get Durant (which I hated too because it wrecked the competitive balance of the league so I had no interest in either of those finals). Then he decides to leave again and go to LA. And at this point his ego is really in overdrive. That 2020 title gets a massive asterisk by it because in a normal year, they don't even make the postseason. And we're hearing again rumblings of him manipulating things behind the scenes to get his son drafted and getting coaches fired and hired etc. Repeating themes throughout his career. So what you call leadership, I more call ego and guile. He's talented, I'll never say he isn't a talented player, an all time talent. But no, he is not the leader that Bird or Duncan or Jordan was. Those guys all were well respected and had their way of doing things but they didn't use their positions to get coaches fired or manipulate the hiring process in the same way Lebron did. They had systems that worked and they ran them to perfection. Lebron has a track record of showing he has a massive ego. The man owns a friggin media company that pushed a lot of his "goat" narrative out there. And it's funny how the ppl who push the goat narrative and constantly try to undercut Jordan are employed by the same media company. I just want the man to be out in proper context and stop this narrative that he's better than Jordan or Magic or Chamberlain or Kareem or all the other greats with legit claims to the throne. To me, Jordan is the best I ever saw do it. I watched both guys play and Jordan was a true once in a generation talent. Lebron, while good, isn't that. I put him in the same vein as Magic and Bird and Kobe. They were all greats but not the greatest. There is only one greatest.

Modern NBA in a nutshell. Players aren't athletes anymore, but businessmen, this is nothing by a market suppression. I know it's a big word, but think about it long term. The LeBron overexposure and Nike interest in it will hamper NBA's ability to create new stars, already has. Now this embarrassing shit with Bronny Jr, they honestly think this will bring new viewers in the age of internet? People don't like fake shit that tries to play real, they have fake sports that act as spectacle in Wrestling. ESPN and Nike created ego for LeBron so big, he will simply try dominate NBA news even after retirement. On daily bases, unlike MJ. That's what NBA is steering towards nowadays, to compete with WWE. Problem is, wresting is still a sport where action happens and wrestlers don't scare of contact. Unlike modern players in the NBA, where they are just straight pussies. Perfect exemple of NBA trajectory is their All-Star weekends, which is just embarrassment.

Bron gonna Bron. He just declined the player option for the last year of his contract to try to get a 3-yr Max deal with the Lakers after they drafted his sub-par son and hiring his buddy as coach. The Lakers just got bent over by him after they did him a favor. That's some bullsheet right there. The Lakers just need to let LeBron walk and put his son on the bench and hold on to his rights.

If I didn't know any better, I would thought that Bronny was the number one overall pick the way ESPN made a big deal about it. If I was a player picked earlier, then him I would have been upset about the big deal they made about him. If Caitlin Clark who was the number one pick in the WNBA draft is getting hit with elbows from veterans WNBA players who dislike her it's about to be 100 times worst for Bronny. The elbows are coming for Bronny.

I really need Jeannie Buss to put some steel in her heels and start fighting for her organization like Lebron was one of her brothers. I'd rather drop the two Jameses and go back to a full rebuilding effort, like with the Van Excel/Jones/Campbell era, than have to sit through this shit. Something that Showtime, and even the Kobe era doesn't get enough credit for: Those championship teams had a bunch of home-brewed talent.

The Lakers in the Buss era always loved stars. They also do well with some homegrown talent, but stars will be stars. Kareem came over via trade but the core of that team - Magic, Worthy, Cooper, AC Green, Byron Scott (acquired via trade on draft day) were homegrown. Kobe can be considered drafted by the Lakers since they traded for him on draft day, but the centerpiece of the three-peat was Shaq. Fisher, Lue, and Devean George were the only memorable players who started their careers with the Lakers. For the back-to-back titles, they wouldn't have won without trading for Gasol, though Bynum emerged as a star. But I do agree the Lakers did well even with secondary stars during that period, something they don't have now with so much churn every year. It's also crazy that the players they traded or let go during the LeBron-AD era did so well when they left - Randle, Clarkson, Ingram, KCP, Lonzo (before his injury), Kuzma, Josh Hart, Alex Caruso, Mo Wagner, among others.

Exactly. I been watching the NBA for over 48 years and it's a shame how the league let one player have so much influence on coaches and players. I used to love the show time Lakers when they were exciting to watch and it wasn't about one player either. I really liked when Shaq and Kobe played together and won championships together just a class organization but now because of one player it has destroyed everything the Lakers stood for and it a shame and quite embarrassing. Watch what I tell you wait until Brony gets a hard foul on him and he will part of the game and watch how Lebron reacts to it especially if it comes from Patrick Beverley or Draymond Green or any other player that will rough him up just because it's Lebron James son and the Lakers will not ever be the same as Lebron is still there cause now the distraction is going to really start now and you can't win championships with distractions. I no longer watch the NBA anymore catering to just one player is just totally ridiculous . Now watch this as soon as the Lakers not win anymore championships in probably at least two years then Lebron will finally retire and once he retires the Lakers will get rid of Brony cause Lebron won't have any impact on the Lakers organization anymore then the Lakers can get the players that they need to contend back to championship form when the distractions are gone

He did groom his son for the NBA and it didn’t work, so he literally just forced the Lakers hand because his son doesn’t belong on an NBA roster at this point. You’re talking like he’s still 14.

What's wrong is that the son is probably not ready for the NBA. Parents always want their kids to do well, I'll give you that. Just because it happens in other places, nepotism is not right for the NBA. It would also have gone down more smoothly if the Lakers made Junior play his way into getting a roster spot but they had to double down and give him a guaranteed contract when it doesn't make sense to do that, especially for a pick that low.

Once Lebron retired the nba would be better again. There is no drama and flopping anymore. Players would chase championships more than stats just like the 90s. Lebron tarnished the legacy of Cavs, Miami and Lakers. I hope he retires soon enough and the nba would be back to its glory. I started watching NBA since Jordan's rookie years.I stopped watching NBA since Kobe retired. NBA after Kobe is just so cringed to watch.

I remember a recent interview with Bill Maher in which he said that he had more faith in the NBA than other institutions, because you could be sure that the NBA was full of truly the finest talent on the planet. It was the one place where it doesn't matter your skin color or your accent, it is just about how good you are. Now this... nepotism. Bronny is not ready, and he's being dragged into this to make Daddy feel good. Makes me kind of feel sorry for the kid.

Sean, you are being too nice. For the majority of his career, LePEDs has disgraced the sport/business with his serial flopping, clown-levels of blatant traveling, doping, player collusion, personnel meddling*, planting media talking heads in sports media, and pathological lying about all of the aforementioned. *Including the totally disrespectful and allegedly racial slur-spitting Reddick, who allegedly pressured his lover to have an abortion. LeBALCO has destroyed the league so much that even today's top-tier players like Giannis regard a non-MJ greater than him. Hopefully, the Anthony Edwards, Jokic, Luka, Shai, and Wembanyama crew can restore the sense of individual competitiveness so that the disgusting, anti-competitive fraternizing and colluding die hard.

LBJ is an attention junkie. He wanted this more for himself than his son did. That’s the selfish part. Everyone knows Bronny is not ready plus he had heart issues recently. But does LeBRONZE🥉🥉care? All he cares about is people talking about him. He’s a drama QUEEN 👸 and that’s why a lot of fans don’t like him. As far as his high IQ that’s all NONSENSE! One person said it and people ran with it. Look at it this way. A turnover is what? A mistake. And LBJ has made more mistakes than everybody in NBA history. So how could he possibly have a high IQ? It’s like saying Steve is the smartest kid in the school but he fails the most tests. Then he’s not the smartest kid in the school. 🤷♂️
