I strongly disagree with the last point (feather vs wings). As a student who is fairly new to the subject, it is extremely important to have every step of the equation correct to fully understand the concept. A simple plus or minus mistake might take a student a long time to realize while the process is also painful. Of course one could argue that it makes the student think and remember better, but it sounds more like escaping from the teacher’s own mistake. I fully understand from a instructor’s point of view that it is easy to understand the bigger picture even with some minor mistakes, but that might be a curse of knowledge. In the end, I would rather take a class where I know that the material is correct than a class where I had to spend extra hours of frustration to find out of other people’s mistakes.

Don't get me wrong. We constantly check our proofs and typos to ensure our stuff is correct. So if you see anything wrong, let us know. On the other hand, too often students spend days and nights practicing algebra but forget the statistical goals. Too often students spend days and nights perfecting the exam fluency but forget to ask about the physical meaning of the equation.
