Yes they were British but had a different name for their band and was somewhat mediocre until they came to the south for several months and listen to the blues early rock-a-billy stuff. They started writing songs with what they learned, went back to England and changed their name. Under the new name, you can hear the influence of how the deep south affected their music. Listen to " In My Time of Dying" on Physical Graphiti. Its song written back in 1928 by Blind Willie Johnson. Like Stevie Ray, Plant and Page were genius in their covers, which were very few.

Easily the most underrated Zeppelin tune. I’ve always adored it. In fact In Through The Out Door doesn’t get as much love as it deserves in general. I love it more than Presence, Coda and the first album, all of which are great.

@@K131399 Jimmy Page admitted himself not to practice on technique..basically practicing for him meant just rehearsing with the band..lots of guitarist of that era were not actually practicing, like Jimi Hendrix as well... But the point is: it's not about technique, but about "feeling" and "creativity"...and Jimmy page have tons of that!

I always thought he just sounded sloppy because in his later years in Zep he was becoming overcome by drug and alcohol usage. His early days he played like a precise robot almost all the time. Early zep was just a lot tighter in general when they first began

@@K131399 I think the sloppiness here is more likely due to the drug use than lack of practicing. Plus he injured his fretting hand very badly like 3 times in the mid 70s. I don’t think he’s ever gotten back to how he was ‘73 and prior.

Una canción tan bonita...me encanta el piano de John Paul Jones, cuyo talento muchas veces pasaba inadvertido, y la gran guitarra de Jimmy. En cuanto a Robert Plant, tiene una voz divina hasta cuando habla!
