Great video with some much appreciated info. I just added that same rifle to my collection and haven’t had a chance to check all the markings. It’s my first Enfield, I’ve always wanted one, I got lucky enough to purchase it along with 3 other milsurps.

Thanks for sharing, I just picked one up that looks like brand spanking new,mi believe it was unissued. I bought a “s” marked bayonet for it that does not have a box around it. Must have had various savage stamping in the bayonets as I’ve seen several different savage stampings on them while shopping on ebay.

Excellent video. My Savage doesn't have any barrel markings or stock markings.

Thank you. I have one in my possession for evaluation right now. There are no British proof marks on it so I wonder if it never got shipped over. Unfortunately the sight is a British Enfield one and the head bolt is stamped with a 2 rather than the square Savage S.

I've got the same no4 mk1* but it has the remnants of an old leaf sight. Any idea what it would have been so I can track a replacement down?

Do you know what type of wood they used for the stock?...

I believe they used beechwood for the majority of the rifles.

That does have a really nice stock on it. You can check out a similar rifle I have featured, thanks.
