Seeing some of the industry's best performing makes me curious on each one's musical journey or growth in terms of education, training, mentors, how easy it is to learn to play with other pro's who they aren't accustomed to performing with, and most of all, why they don't take ensemble casts like this one on the road away from the friendly confines of LA but in the great heartland of the USA rather than only at international jazz fests in some distant global venue?

What I noticed is that the original players on the 1977 album are playing this LIVE!I'm completely blown away!

Some folks like to stay at home, some folks like to roam. Bach never went more than 100 miles from his birth but look at the out reach! Captain Fingers was one of the watershed moment songs that helped steer my path in life. I was 15 at the time and easily impressionable as far as amazing guitar players and solo guitar styles went.

@@jmer2054 Yes, that is a valid insight. You wouldn't happen to be Captain Fingers himself, Mr. Lee? Spoken or written like a pro musician who feels a need to reach broader audiences. I was a rare wayward guitar player wannabe in the 70's-80's when the Ritenour-Grusin collaborations were taking off. My rock genre buddies didn't even know who Ritenour or Grusin were. Proud to say I was alive and enjoying Dave's Mountain Dance when it first came out, a pop/jazz masterpiece.
