Our first fair of the new decade was the Leeds Valentines Fair, at the new location of Woodhouse Moor this year.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I’ve been going to this fair since I was a little kid and every year it seems to get smaller and smaller. I had hoped the new ground would be a breath of fresh air and lead to more machines attending but apparently not. The site was even smaller and it was a right squeeze fitting everything in. It was also absolutely empty (as you can probably tell from the footage), although you can probably blame storm Dennis for that.
In terms of the rides, Air Raid was great as it always is. Definitely one of the better Extremes. Vertigo felt like it never really got up to full speed but I find them a lot better when going slower. It makes for some great near misses! The Top Scan was also operating a slower cycle than what we’re used to and I thought this made it a bit too rough.
On our way back to the railway station we popped into the Ice Cube event in Leeds Centre for Ice Jet and managed to get on the last ride of the night. As always it was a brilliant ride.
Overall we had a good day and got some great footage despite the storm.
