Rick and Guthrie. Holdsworth and Gambale are from planet Lęgätõ Măgørīsmnør. They are also time lords. (tap on the shoulder startles me. I turn around and a grinning Holdsworth is standing there. He reaches Towards you and : CHOOSE YOUR DESTINY A. Plays a Dm Phrygian dominant run on your forehead. You get tunnel vision and you black out. B. the same as above except its Frank Gambale and he hangs up the phone with his elongated finger and hangs up the phone youre on. He collects the entire amount of change in the pay phone. Frank says, "Perfect !" and splits the take with you. Drops $3.50 usd quarters in your shirt pocket as drool starts to just creep over the edge of your lip as you think to yourself. A. What a wonderful world in the voice of Louie Arnstrong. B . Frank says. "Hey! Cowboy Bebop ! C'mere. I guess we gotsta do this the hard way." You quickly and audibly reply, "Uh No No...NO EASY WAY IS JUST FINE! Given a choice. I WASNT GIVEN A CHOICE !!! uh that is Sir...Mr. Gambale Sir." You cringe' A. You wet yourself and beg not to be shredded and killed, becoming an ingredient in Holdsworth House Salad Dressings and devoured by thousands of pretentious jazz guitarists. B. Run like Hell and wet yourself while making machine gun farts with every step as you dash across street dropping your cocoa at Gambales feet. He says, "Mothoo Fakoo!" or something inaudible but your half way into the road and cars are honking and tires screeching.

The very first name that always comes in mind when it comes to legato is Joe satriani. There is hardly any player who uses legato so much as satch. Rick Graham was inspired from Satch and Guthrie consider his legato playing very influential. Without listening to his legato playing technic and style, it would be incomplete. But anyways, u r amazing dude. Very nice lesson....
@nethbt
4 жыл бұрын
I'm not here to diss the legend but Satch has a very simplistic not overly complex legato technique. It can be apparently quite obvious once you begin to familiarize with his music... I grew up listening to Joe...You notice he has a limited repertoire of legato runs compared to Rick, Guthrie or Tom, he doesn't shift and slide that much all he does is follow the ascending/descending pattern in a box or adjacent to it. Not saying that I can do Satch's legato ( I'm still struggling execute his slower tunes cleanly lol) I really would look into other players if I want a juicier legato technique, Joe's legato can be a great stepping stone though.
@sanjugholley
4 жыл бұрын
@@nethbt Well I understand what u said brother, but I am talking about the speed and melody that he creates with his legato playing. The way he just flows with the notes is exceptional. Rick and Guthrie are anyways an extraordinary guitarists and there is no doubt but even they consider him as one of the inspiration. It's also not about who inspired whom but for learning this particular technic specifically, Satch should be the first person to look upto in my opinion.This video was posted for educational purpose and so I thought to refer a player who is great at it..... Whatsoever let's not talk about anyone...At the end it's important for u and me to play it😀
