I liked the movie Elvis more than I thought I would. I went into it thinking it was just yet another Elvis Presley biopic, but it was 100% a character study. It highlighted all of the turning points, not only in his career but his life, that made him the legend that he became. The only thing they really didn't go into a lot of detail on was his drug addiction. They only scratched the surface on that.

@@theylied1776 Actually, they WERE all prescription meds, mostly uppers, downers, and opioids. When Dr Nick tried to control the meds, Elvis simply went to a different doctor. No one said no to Elvis. However, he WAS legitimately in a lot of pain, legitimately had horrendous insomnia, legitimately had excruciating health issues. He believed he needed the meds. And with what we know now he probably did. The technology to fix and diagnose him wasn't there in the 70s, and a lot of his issues were discovered post-mortem. And Elvis had great faith in the medical field; he believed a pill could cure all of his ills.

Elvis wanted to do the movie "A. Star is Born"... He wanted to be taken seriously as an actor and he wanted to get into acting to break up the monotony of touring the same places...He met with Barbara and Jon and discussed what making the movie would entail...Elvis and Barbara both decided that they both needed to drop 20 pounds before filming started... They agreed to spend 30 days in a " fat farm" as they called it under supervision to lose the weight... Then 30 days promoting the movie, and then 90 days of shooting the film...altogether Elvis and Barbara would spend about 6 months to complete the movie... Elvis's guys were excited The guys said they hardly slept after Elvis gave them the good news... The next morning Red West came in Graceland and Elvis was looking dejected and sad and Red asked if he was alright and Elvis said he was okay...Red asked what the colonel thought about doing the film...Elvis said the colonel said that they don't need to do the movie at this time... The truth was that Elvis had second thoughts about doing the movie because he would have to lay off the pills and no guns allowed at the fat farm...Elvis asked the colonel to kill the deal so the colonel did...He asked for more money and top billing and that killed the deal... Everyone thought the colonel was to blame but Elvis wanted out of the movie deal so the colonel got him out... That's what really happened...

Makes sense this guy said he usta lie a lot!! He met Elvis in the beginning of 1974, when Elvis was in no way fat, plus even in the end in 1977 Elvis was only 50 or 60 1bs overweight he was never actually that fat but the jump suits could be unflattering to any middle aged man plus he used to get pretty bloated in yhe face due to water retention.

It was 1975. March 28th after his midnight show in Las Vegas to be precise.

@@scottjenkins3095 Ya thats right, I actually meant 1975. I have a cd with some songs from that show. But my point is Elvis was never ever 100 1bs overweight.

Didn’t Jon trash MJ a few times before? The way People talk about MJ however they want to as well as switch stories and sides all the time is just weird. Never heard or seen MJ talk about Joe once lol *we became friends* WHEN? 😂

Jon or Joe? This is the first time I’m hearing Jon talk about him. And I’m sure MJ invited him home coz he loved talking movies & this guy has produced some big ones.

The new Elvis movie is unwatchable. I tried, possibly made 20 minutes. Tom Hanks, the whole thing, just sad.

The Elvis movie gave me chills.. As an 8 year old watching Elvis movies, i never cared about plot or dramatic scenes.. Elvis got the girl, won the fight, and beat up the guy who wanted the girl..Elvis was Batman, except he was the first real life supehero. At 12 years old seeing him at Madison Square Garden in 1972. I knew there was a God.. it wasn't Elvis, but after seeing Elvis, I knew there had to be a God.. He changed my life forever.. The new Baz movie gave me chills..

This guy has an imagination and seems not to want to tell the truth about meeting Elvis because at the time he was just Barbara Streisand's boyfriend/hairdresser. I don't know why he says Elvis was 100 lbs over weight in early 75 but it might be the same reason he said he wrote a remake of A Star is Born, exaggeration of his story. Elvis didn't want to do the movie after thinking about it and had the Col ask for a lot more than they would be willing to do. So who said F you to the offer and I'm sure Peter's wasn't allowed to be in the conversation with Col anyway. His being a producer for the first time was the first red flag and Barbara had a reputation for being not a great person to with was another reason to make sure they would have to turn down the Col. Col didn't budge or negotiate so that tells you everything.
