I bought someone a bouquet of real flowers just recently and it honestly cost $70 including a card, fancier wrapping paper and delivery.. So in all honestly I don't think this is all that bad considering how pricey real flowers are.

Built my and love it. Had the real bird in my backyard, transplanted it to the front yard, and it’s never bloomed since. If I stick this in my front window and squint my eyes I can almost pretend it’s a happy plant growing in my garden.

Oooo yess jang I’ve been waiting on u reviewing this, I’ve been wanting it but can’t justify paying the £90 for it! I recently bought the bonsai tho because I loved it so much and I think that it is great for the money, I actually combined both the green foliage and the cherry blossom foliage to create a very full beautiful looking tree and I love it, it looks so good that it kinda looks like a moc in a way because it’s so full of foliage! Anyway thanks for always giving us the best reviews out there! 😄

This set, while I can understand the price due to the amount of pieces and the size of it, as well as being maintenence free compared to the real plant, this is one I'll more than likely pass on. Purely down to costing the same as BOTH the Flower Bouquet and Bonsai Tree together (or double the price of each), which is really hard to swallow. And like you said, majority of the bulk of pieces goes into the pot section itself. This is discounted at the moment by 15%, down to £76 and a bit, which is about what I feel it should've cost, along with your suggestion of $80, just to avoid the less than ideal issue of costing the same as both the Bouquet and Bonsai together.

I built this last week and love the finished product! I grew up with birds of paradise at my folks' place in SoCal, so I have a special connection to this plant, as I just loved seeing these flowers and the humming birds that would get food from them. I did find the build to be a bit repetitive though, and my thumbs hurt a bit when I finished, from pushing in all those technic parts [it's been a while since I built a large technic set!]

NEEDED this review! THanks! It looks good, but all the pictures looked really artifical, and for $130 CAD, its a liiiittle steep. I just bought one from an amazon deal that left it at $97CAD, so pretty much the $80USD price tag that you thought was appropriate, and I'd agree! Thanks again!

good review. 100$ seems like a lot for this set as a Lego. I agree at 80$ it would be a perfect price. but if you look at it as a decorative piece, that you also get to build, it actually is reasonable priced. I am hoping to grab this at a discount maybe.

Comparing it to the bouquet, you’re paying $50 for a flowerpot. The Bouquet, which has spectacular display value. So much so that most people use it as a dining table centerpiece, goes well in a $1 vase from the Dollar store. If you want to get really fancy, spend another $1 for a bag of those glass marbles to fill the bottom of the vase. Yes with the extra $50 price point the bigger set has more build. But I’m not sure it is a build that anyone finds that much value in. Sometimes the value equation is more than simply part count.

Controversial take: I’m ok with the bouquet not coming with a vase. It’s like getting flowers from the grocery store and picking a vase from the closet. I always seem to have about ten up there on the top shelf. And people can select a vase that matches their decor. And you can also add or remove flowers. And the bird of paradise is a plant and should come in a pot like the bonsai. So I think LEGO made the right call IMO. (I have, and enjoy, these sets)
