I got this for my 9th birthday /1984 from my late mother and I remembered everything about this set. How awesome it was to have a split to 3 feature. It was probably one of the most expensive Lego space in Indonesia back then. Thank you Jangbrick for this video, this reminded me on how happy I was as a child.

ok, the spaceship is cool and all but how are they meant to control the ship with two people????? and it's not like they're sitting right next to each other. they're in different parts of the ship, so they couldn't communicate

I got this for Christmas when I was 5 and I'll never forget opening it up, it just seemed like the most impossibly huge set of all time. Thanks for refreshing my memories of what looked like it one piece, my son now has all my Lego so the pieces are still in circulation. Lego never gets old or dies!!!

I got this set for my 10th birthday almost 30 years ago and I remember absolutely everything about that moment: my mother telling me to go out, that all my friends were there and that it was rude for me to be inside (I must have ignored her because I can't remember a single other thing about that birthday), the table on the living room where I set it up, but most importantly, I still remember exactly the feeling of disbelief... I just could not believe I got such an incredible gift! It looked so awesome I could not believe it! Still to this date I can't remember who gave it to me. We were living in the south of Argentina (Patagonia, more than a thousand miles south of Buenos Aires in a tiny little ski resort with about 20K people)... It was without a doubt the most awesome birthday present I ever got. I remember thinking that it looked just like the kind of toy you dream about but can't afford. Such a magical moment...

Actually the designer said initially that red was Russian and white was American and that he was ignoring the cold war lines of tension. In a short time new colors were added where white was a pilot (two in this set), yellow were scientists, and red were soldiers. Blue were mission commanders and black were spies. Now green are much pilots. Red can fly and drive as soldiers they are trained. Yellow can fly smaller exploration vehicles but two are included for the la and one rover. Red for the other rover, doing security sweeps of the area. Enemies were not created until Blacktron and Space Police.

I had this set as a kid, it was great. I just got my lego back from my parents & sister who had used it in their classroom. I went and downloaded all of the old instructions. Sadly quite a lot of pieces are missing now, so I had to make up a single cockpit version of the main ship for my 5 year old to play with. Was hard to tell who had more fun with it, me or him.....

I was 7 when I received this as a present for Christmas. This video brought a tear to my eye. I actually remember the feeling of excitement at 01:41 when I started taking the ship apart to play with the science lab. Also Jang, I *loved* the bare frame Central section it was a beautiful play canvas, me and my brother who was 6 at the time would use it as a refuelling and cargo base! Thank you Jang this was a perfect video thank you!!! 😢

Had this set as a kid. My favourite model for a long time. Forgiving the limited pieces, there are some brilliant design elements. Note - NO STICKERS Lego!! - so it still functions 35+ years later. For an era where it was discovery not battles this was the biggest set in the range that year. 👍🏻

This was the first proper Lego set I ever had! I must have been 6 years old and got it for my birthday, I remember having to wait for my dad to get home from work to build it for me! Sadly the original has long gone but I rebuilt a very similar version using my son's Lego and instructions I found on the internet (it's now on display on a high shelf so my kids can't break it!)

I had Deep Freeze Defender in '93, cool set. Like this one in the video Deep Freeze Defender had two detachable pod ships on the front, the mid section was a rocket/missile launcher the folded upward to reveal the rocket/missile which could also be detached from the two front pod ships ant the back compartment. Then the back compartment had a cool feature. You folded up and outward the black thruster, open the garage door and pops out is a mini space scooter with a magnet on its side. To add more playability, you could attach each pod ship to both mid & rear section of the ship to create two different ships. Sure miss that set. Great builds with it.

I have just finished building my own version of this - using a slightly different weight of blue to white, as blue wings and those two wing-cutouts at the front are massively cheaper than the original white - somthing like 80p for the lot as opposed to £15!!! It genuinely was that much difference. I crewed it with blue-trousered lego police minifigs in white visor-helmets and blue oxygen tanks with the most minimal expressed head that Pick-a-brick offer these days. They fit in very nicely, to the extent I have replaced all my worn off original Space heads with the same pattern. In my own mind the colour differences to the original are due to the fact the ship is on detachment to my otherwise peacable Space diarama from the Lego equivalent of the old soviet GRU - millitary police and intelligence. Their livery is a slight more menacing and heavier blue. A lovely, lovely ship. Something I have wanted since I was 8!!! ...And now a few weeks later have managed to get hold of all but one of the bricks in the original colours. I had to play through the nose for some of them - the large inverted slope and the afore-mentioned cut-outs. Together those four pieces cost a little over £20 alone - adding another third again to the final price... For just four bricks... Still, in the proper colours it looks very good indeed and you can really trace its heritage from the Cosmic Cruiser. The antenna-punger? I rather think they are for hanging your airtanks from so your minifg can sit down properly. But... Plunger is good too!!! EVERY fan of classic space should have this ship!!!

I like this set. It combines very well with the 6890 Cosmic Cruiser which has the same wing configuration. Never had this one because I was around 15 when this set came around. At that age I wasn't into Lego anymore:-) I bought it a couple of years back. Good set. Great design. Only the mid-section leaves me puzzled... That's the only minor thing to it.

This was my favorite spaceship set as a kid! I loved the blue and white colors! I was like 8 or 9 at the time, living in a suburb of New Orleans. That summer, I went around the neighborhood knocking on doors to ask to mow their yards. After doing that for about a month, my mom took me to Sears and I bought it with my own hard-earned money which made it even more wonderful. I brought it home and built it outside on the driveway with my friends. Well, they watched and I built, haha. Here is what I am up to now: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r2-at32en6mFf2U
