Ninjago city gardens would be a 10 in my books if: 1: there was a reasonable way to get from ground floor to second: stairs or a pretty lift would've been nice. 2: that one wall wasn't so bare, the other side is broken up with balconies and an overhang which works nicely. 3: havent built it yet but, the tower and other sections connected more securely Really these problems aren't so bad and if so wished buying another modular would get rid of 1 and 2 lol. , i'd give it 9.5 too! I love how its just packed to the brim with variety, it feels very natural and dynamic, this set beautifully captures that built up japanese city vibe that just buzzes with life. Really hope we get even more builds like this!

I believe we should see Ninjago city gardens as the start of a new street or section of Ninjago city Modular’s similar to how in the modular series they connect certain buildings together. In short: the upcoming Ninjago city markets may connect to the gardens and the docks and original Ninjago city are to be placed together. Each of these couples will then be placed separately. Again you can connect it all together but I think the Ninjago movie Modulars are to be placed separately from the gardens and legacy line. The markets set will show if I’m right or wrong. I say this considering you can’t even line the floors to both city sets lol

Gardens and also makets are way better than city and docks imo, they are way more colorful and pop way more. love that about those two while the older ones look more bland and boring

Really hate to say it, but you need to sell a few sets and grab the docks. I know they're crazy expensive, but having it all together is really something. I love the garden set, it's fantastic. But the way the buildings connect to each other is real bad. It's also a pain to line up the second floor where the tree connects, sometimes it just doesn't want to go. Also, I really love the puffer fish, crab restaurant façade and movable parts (sushi belt, elevator, crab cooker, ATM) of the city. To me, it's still tops. The Gardens' buildings all have super cramped insides that barely fit any figures. I prefer the larger open rooms of the city.

I mostly agree, but for me City wins. I first built City , rn i am halfway building the Gardens,and : Main thing is playability. My 5 year old kid can dismantle and stack It up again really quick and easy ,and also the buildings, floors are much more stable compared to City Gardens, and oh boy already he Has problems. It really blows my mind rn how well OG is designed ,well thought in both visual and practical (Play easines, Paths that minifig can także) way. - especially the first Promenade and the way how the first half of the tree attaches to It(Gardens) ,compared to Main promenade of City- OG is much sturdier compared to newer set.It could be done much better and actually i will change It - hitting technic rod in this hole is so annoying for this tree. - for buildings i did so far, movement for minifigs is much worse - some seems to high , and bit tight even for smaller hand (although chen shop Has amazing feature of opening It up, wish they did same feature with ice cream shop and i think i will try to rebuild It too to open It up ) So far , i would say like this : City Gardens looks amazing, Has interesting building Technics, but building and sturdiness (and my scale runs towards building experience and Play easines much stronger for final score ) ,City wins that one for me. Minifigs for me are not that important - i mean they are but you can always buy them inneor have your favourite minifigs that can populate the City how you like It ( my son decided that benthomar sells fish on fish market :P) I actually have strong feeling that Garden Is more of a display focus, while City hit all the spots, both with visuals ,sturdiness and playability (especially elevator, that explains how you get up, everything is literally availble for minifigs with" legitimate "way ) even for younger kids. Main minus is the price (oh man wish i got into this modulars sooner!) , But man It is worth It.

I watched most of the Lego ninjago series years ago, but I don't recognize the city gardens from any season or episode, Do you if the city gardens is featured in the ninjago movie which I haven't seen, or is featured in an episode in particule I have seen or don't remember?

City gardens looks like a concept made by LEGO designers. I don’t recognize anything from the Ninjago movie. If I had to guess, LEGO made Ninjago city based off of the movie, then decided to continue making add ons because it sold so well. Then docks came out, gardens, and markets. I think that it’s just LEGO designers having fun now.

Sawyer Studios I don’t regret not getting the docks. In my opinion it was strictly an add on kind of set. I don’t really want to pay that much for a set that doesn’t look great by itself. City and Gardens look amazing alone. I’ll probably wait for double points to get the Garden

I kinda disagree. The original city feels more coherent top to bottom for me. The elevator ties the whole thing together and the old world feels more dense. I also don't love the variation between floors in gardens, where every room is a whole different colour scheme. This especially sticks out in the upper levels, where the museum and green apartment just seem like they're slapped on top of the shops below, and the museum imo should've been 2 floors, or at least felt a bit grander.

This isn’t meant to be mean or anything but it’d be nice if you did better research on each set the next time you do a comparison as you made a few mistakes. Ninjago city comes with 16 advertised figures not including the mannequins or lloyds suit while the ninjago city gardens comes with 19 advertised figures not including the figure on the noodle house the Zane statue or jays suit. Also the suit in ninjago city gardens is Jays not Lloyds. Also you forgot the feature in the museum where you can knock off the painting from the outside and knock off the one on the inside and have the mechanic crawl through the hole in the wall into the museum
@SawyerStudios

Thanks for the tips! I definitely messed up on a couple things and I have realized that I got the suits mixed up from several people. I didn’t forget about the museum feature, I kind of let it slide because I mentioned if you wanted to see all of the features of the set, you should watch my review. I didn’t go into all of the features of the LEGO ninjago city either. But thanks for the constructive criticism! I’ll do better next time.

If you want a more ninjago set the gardens is the better choice it doesn’t take away the south eastern culture of ninjago as much as the city and the gardens from the back can be displayed the back of the city lacks detail and isn’t the nicest looking

1. Price: You are objectively wrong here. While the Gardens have more pieces, they are mostly small ones. By weight, City wins. 2. Minifigs: Gardens has very, very boring, generic figures you can find in every set. only 2-3 Figures are really worth it. City has way more useful figures for a Ninjago City. I vastly prefer the City figures. We can call it a wash at best. 3. Playability: Obviously Ninjago City, it is not even close. Even if you include placing options of figures. 4. Building Experience: I agree that they are both top notch. City is much more stable, it fits together more, etc. so City. What you haven't mentioned is it's display value/artistic merit and this is where the Gardens loses out really hard. The colors are by far the worst thing about it. The designer basically tried to choose colors that were not used in City (and was constrained by what was in print) and they clash so hard together and really just don't fit as well. It becomes obvious that the design Team of Ninjago City was much larger, had more design time, had access to more artists with more time. This is what makes it kind of an unfair comparison. I would call Ninjago City one of the best if not THE best LEGO set to date. If it is a 10, Gardens is an 8. (Assuming normal distribution of set-quality, 5 being average.) It is still one of the best Sets ever made, but not exactly in the same league as City. The Gardens does get the initial "WOW" factor, though. But it wanes after a while.
