I bought this double slip crossover and I love it. There is one problem with it. You don't have control of the 4 slips on each side of the diamond crossing, there is no levers. Like you would of of had problems taking your train onto the inner tracks. I've replaced some of the points with more single double slips and you could made a good metro rail network. I asked Trix Brix if they have any plans to make a single slip version and separate single slips and they do have plans one day. So train don't cross into up coming trains

You can control the inner switches. There are tiny little switches that you can flip on the inside of the rails. I will try to cover it in an upcoming video. Thanks for watching!

Hi Adam, I'm enjoying this video as a model train guy. And who doesn't love legos?! Anyways. Just wanted to mention that as cool as it looks, such an intricate design would almost never be built in real life. Double slip crossovers require almost the same amount of parts as 4 normal turnouts, so a railroad must really be in a space crunch to use 1, let alone 4?! So this plate you made effectively has 20 turnouts on it!!! Now I understand you might not be aiming for realism. I just wanted to share! It still looks impressive. Cheers!

Thanks for watching! I realize that it might not be the most realistic section of track, but for me it was more about how impressive it is and the functionality that it gives me with trains easily being able to traverse the two mainlines and the two yard lines.

I like the cameo from the Messerschmitt 109 on the flatbed car! Is it being transported off to Lego Kermit Weeks for restoration? 😉

Looks awesome. As far as a suggestion, you have spent a lot of money for this section of track. 😅 So use it to it's full extent. Would be a shame to see trains parked over it and covering it. I'd say use the two far left tracks as the main line. The two right tracks for the larger intersection for the train yard. Then get another switch further down for the far side single siding on the left alongside the main line. That way you have some trains parked on it and others constantly running through. Also allows both main lines access to the larger train yard.

Hi Adam, we are planning a layout, what do you recommend for a table size. I am planning on building it out of half inch plywood.

Half inch plywood will be good for the base. Whatever size you end up going for make sure that it is an exact multiple of the size of a baseplate which will make it easier to fit things in. The big things to consider beyond that are how much space you have for your initial layout and what radius of turns you are going to use. Everything beyond that can scale up or down over time (eg. number of buildings and extra sidings/mainline tracks. Some people find it useful to plan out their track in a software program, others like to draw it out on graph paper, and some like to layout actual track on the floor where the table will eventually be. Most of all though just enjoy the process and be prepared to change up the layout as you learn and you can even add more tables to it in the future if you have space. I hope that helps!
