I chose the M6 because of the rewind lever and the Single-stroke advance lever, also the small and beautiful vintage box coming with it. And the price was less than the MP, now I see more expensive

Something worth pointing out: Out of all of them, the M6 is the only one with a film plane indicator hidden under the advance lever. not that everyone will need it, but it is worth pointing out

I want to point it out here that the M6 black paint is vastly different from the M11. The M6 can and will show brass relatively easily, and it's beautiful like the MP. While on the M11, the paint is not only rougher, but also more durable. It's also not brass-topped.
@jlehrer1890

Leica's official statement is that the M11 and M6 share the same black paint finish, but of course, painted aluminum (like on the black M11) will look different than painted brass (like on the new M6).

Great video! Thank you. Evidently not one of the three cameras has a self-timer. When I bought my M-A I assumed that I was buying a NEW M3. I quickly realized that my M-A doesn't have a self-timer. Aach! No one takes selfies anymore, right?

Hi Josh (Herb from S Carolina). As you know, I am a brand newbie to Leica, and a Q2 Mono, with your help, was my entrance into the family. So, I found your analog comparison, extremely interesting, as I am trying to learn about the different Leica models and their history, I would love it if you could do a comparison of the leica lenses... differences between the different builds. The words, 'Appo' and 'Chron' are always mentioned but I have no idea about the differences between them. Thanks, Josh.

Excuse me while I adjust my glasses... Umm Actually, "Leica is the only company currently producing full frame 35mm film cameras." "Mint / Rollei" would like to have a word with you. There is also the bunch of recycled point and shoot disposable cameras being manufractured under some legacy branding, but I really don't want to name them.

CameraS. Plural. I stand by my statement! Rollei just makes one model (not that they are even available now). Also, on a more serious note, when we recorded this video that camera had not begun shipping yet, and I honestly don't think anyone is cross shopping the $799 35 AF against a new Leica M analog, but who knows?! In the end, the more options that are out there, the better.

Thanks Josh, great timing. I'm looking at the these options at the moment. I have a q2 Reporter and M11 (black). In my (long time ago) professional days it was all split image rangefinders, manual focus, 35mm or 120 film, often with hand held meters and there is great deal of appeal to having that option now that I am in my sixties (the wrong end 🙂). I'd quite like silver chrome and so the MA is heading the list at the moment but I have more thinking to do. Black chrome is great but I worry that it will look scruffy before it looks brassy and I don't think I would use it enough for the brassing to show through. Would I like it when it does - not sure? If there were a silver chrome M6, that would be an option but it's not envisaged and I don't think I am in the market for used, to risky. The main difference (that I didn't know already) was the shutter difference (because of no metering). Obvious, but I hadn't thought of that. In the UK so a trip to my "local" Leica dealer, Stephens of Manchester) is in order. If I can try them side by side. Thanks again. Phil

So question is : if one wants to get MA, then why not M3? If one wants a light meter built in, then why not M7? If you want classic then why not get the real M6 and not rerelease? If you worry about warranty from used camera, then why not get them from Leica classic shop and skip the current line up? 😂😂😂
@RedDotForum
2 күн бұрын
I'm going to address each of your points in a different comment to keep things organized. The M-A is a dramatically different camera from the M3. The M3 has a 0.91x magnification viewfinder versus 0.72 for the M-A, and only 3 frame lines, versus 6 for the M-A. The M3 is also trickier to load film into compared to the M-A. The M3 is great for some people but not for everyone. Especially because not everyone will want to purchase a vintage camera, that may very well be in need of servicing.
@RedDotForum
2 күн бұрын
The M7 is a great camera, but some users may appreciate the smaller size and weight of the M6 or MP, or not wish to have a shutter that requires batteries to fully function. Also, some users prefer to buy new, to get a camera that’s going to work perfectly, be in perfect condition, and have lots of warranty. And lastly, not all M7’s will have the MP-style viewfinder that all the new M analog cameras have.
@RedDotForum
2 күн бұрын
A similar logic applies to getting an original M6 versus the reissue. An original M6 may require servicing, and it won’t have the MP-style viewfinder like the new M6 has unless it’s been retrofitted. It’s also a zinc top plate versus brass for the new camera, and again, there will always be a segment of Leica users that prefer the peace of mind that comes from buying a new camera versus a vintage one.
@RedDotForum

Lastly, the pre-owned cameras that we offer at Leica Store Miami all come with a warranty, and almost every analog M camera we offer pre-owned is serviced first, and carries 6-12 months of warranty as well.
