Always great to hear your perspective and your passion on these Leica topics :) I was one of those who always wondered how a Q would look like with a longer focal length, since like you said I always cropped my Leica Q images, specially because of distortion. Today at launch date of the Q3 43 I picked up my piece and did a quick unboxing video for my small channel. Although it's simply a Q3 with a longer focal length and all the known Q quality, it's a bit disappointing even Leica has to cut cost by not including a charger although the Q3 43 is more expensive. I get it, since every other brand does it, but still ... You are lately on fire Bobby, keep at it! :)

Great information! Coming from SL and M...how is the evf with the 43? The Q 28mm always felt hard to see and removed from the scene compared to an optical view finder on the M or the bigger SL3. I am wondering if that changes with the 43 focal length. Also, do you know the refresh rate and does it black out each time you take a photo?

You know i would have loved Leica if they would have release a leica Q 43. The Q3 series sport a sensor with too much mpx on it for my liking and it comes with modern video features. The focal length of 43mm pretty much is on pair with our human eyes. That is an interesting choice. Yet for the cost i can kit out my m240 with some awesome glass and yes i do realise that the comparison between Leica M & Q is a flawed one

It's not very wide but interestingly enough 43 mm is a good compromise. It allows you to get lovely portrait separation. It still allows you to shoot some landscapes in certain situations. Hello Bobby, very informative video and thank you for your thoughts. I always wanted a Q with a 50mm lens, while 43 is even better. This will be a wonderful camera. Now I bought both the Q and Q2 and sold both again. The Q3 did not tempt me but the Q3 43 looks tempting. Still, it will be not for me. While I am not a 28mm kind of guy, the lens was not the main reason for selling the cameras, it was the form factor. While the Q is slightly smaller than most mirrorless cameras, it is still not pocketable. So if I take this camera or an M or a Nikon Zf or... I have them in a small bag. The latter 2 offer me the chance to change lenses. I recall paying just under 4000 Euros for my first Q. Yes we have had inflation since then, but 6900 Euros for a fixed lens camera with sub par AF?? I agree the sensor and the menu are both brilliant. A Nikon Zf with at 35/50 or 50/85 combo cost you half the money as does the 40 1.2 and 75 1.5 set up with Voigtländer lenses. It has the better AF and/or manual focus assist. The sensor of the Leica is amazing but if we don't pixel peep or crop the hell out of it you will not see the difference. This is no Leica bashing, just my thoughts and I am a Leica M user now for 14 years and still love the unique system , the experience and the heritage. Clearly if someone is shooting most of the time at an 40mm ish focal length, wants the Leica experience and brand and has the budget , I assume it will be an awesome camera.
